The lime trees outside the Town Hall, where we had our picnic, had masses of these brightly coloured bugs, Pyrrhocoris apterus, hibernating in the crevices in the bark.
Denny, Darryl & Taz spent a good part of the day at Chankanaab National Park. There are many things to do there. You can enjoy the lush tropical gardens, lounge on the beach and have waiters bring you drinks, swim with the dolphins, watch the sea lion shows or snorkel the reef.
The Waterfall Canyon waterfall in Ogden is a big one. Tumbling more than 200 feet, it can reach deafening proportions during the late Spring and early Summer with the snowpack melt.
But, in the Winter it goes silent. Sleeping until it's time to awaken as the temperatures climb.
This is Casper, my gentle giant, sleeping away. Notice his right hind foot is propped up in the door crack!
