I found myself outside before sunrise in the winter. It's shocking, but true! So, I went home and grabbed my camera.

This week Widget has been secreting himself in hidden places, like the back of the wardrobe or inside a cardboard box. This desire to hide occurs from time to time. It often coincides with losing a fight with the large, aggressive black cat that roams the neighbourhood.

This cute little guy seemed to have dug himself out of his summer hole. Finally we had rain and he was able to dig himself out and have a swim!!! (I assume)

I found a couple of bats hibernating in the rafters of my old work shop out in Elk River Valley near Port Orford. (Curry County, Oregon)

Winter running in the Yorkshire Dales could be a challenge and so the Rylston Light had two heavy drift ploughs: No2 sleeps the summer away.e canal near Kellingley Colliery

Our Rover slumbers. No worries, a car cover is on the way.

These fish are hibernating in an outdoor pond.

Having a bath before she hibernates in the fridge for a month

he spent most of the afternoon wandering around the property foraging. I thought he was suppsoed to be in hibernation? It's minus 5 centigrade here right now!

morning drive

through silent fields

all is still

Next year I am staying in hibernation, I cannot even see my feet...

I'm sleeping in today. Mabye all day, it's my first day off in over a week, and I plan on catching up on some much needed sleep.

One of the photos I took for my book project assignment for university.

It is a sorrowful thing is it not?

when summer comes to pass

with cruel winds and driving rain

unleashed upon our paths

The trees do bare their barren souls

like blankets their leaves create a warmth

no longer basking in the summer's sun

but huddled close about their feet

The wind howls, for no man dare to wonder

and the treachery of a driving storm

brings blackened angry thunder

And yet deep inside us waits to greet

a passion so intense and strong

for is it not a creature hidden

to be unsuspectingly sprung upon?

Alas the snows have now begun

wrap warmly, keep safe and stay inside

for not before you have kissed good night

with snuggle-down cosiness can you hide

It is a sorrowful thing is not?

when summer comes to pass!

TODAY'S RANDOM FACT:

Wet ducks never fly at night.

I almost didn’t post this composition, because I’m really on the fence about it… I call it Boreal Hibernation, because it’s obvious the grasses are all dead and the tree has no leafs left, and it was a very atmospheric day with tons of fog, but I’m not over the moon about it.

If you haven’t guessed, I’ve been in a creative rut for the better part of January, maybe because the conditions and light in my neck of the woods have been, to be blunt, piss poor :/

Let me know if you think this comp makes the cut in the comments down below!

I took my chances as she was so dozy. And covered in dust. She must have been there for at least three months. Kind of nice to see her up so close. She's at 4:1... or her head is, anyway.
