Visited several times, eating mealworms and dried catfood and drinking water. Hope it's here to stay.

I've been looking for landscapes and found some interesting spots in a nearby pine forest.

Please check my Facebook and Instagram for more photos.

Thanks!

VW Beetle after several days of snowfall......quite a distinctive shape so still recognisable.

Long exposure to avoid using the flash, contrast tweaked in PS Elements, some of the background burned out and cropped to suit.

Insectivorous British bats survive the winter, and it's lack of prey, by hibernating. They find a site of a suitable (chilly) and stable temperature, then crawl into a crack and reduce their metabolism and heart rate to sleep through the winter. This does make them tricky to spot however.

Note - Hibernating bats are extremely vulnerable to disturbance and have strong legal protection. Sites should not be visited without the appropriate licences and controls. Bats are easily woken from their torpor and every time depletes their limited energy reserves, which cannot be replaced in winter.

While walking through Thetford Forest the other day I spotted these insects apparently preparing to hibernate in the fir cones which had their scales open in a most inviting manner.

I am sure that they will make a secure and quite warm place to hide away for the winter.

We found these hidden in a crevice in a standing stone at Avebury.

I bio-hibernated (vs. Java Hibernate) until 11am this morning, had some lunch-like substance, and brought Frosty to a park.

Here is Frosty eyeing a squirrel far far away.

Ehh..I don't really feel like putting anything here, but I will say that, what's behind me is not rock. It's sand. Pre-ttttttty cool...... :P

The monsoons here means that most boats take about a month's break from going out on the river or into the sea, especially fishing boats.

This one's covered and prepared for monsoon hibernation.

When you hibernate in the living room, on the couch, it helps to have all the comforts: faithful canine companion, fleece dog cover, knit cap, and always wear your glasses so when you emerge you can see! Oh, and going into hibernation unshaven helps keep any detracting influences at bay.

Slightly underweight but seems healthy. Hopefully I a week or two (if we get the cold weather) then we can put her in the garage to try to hibernate

A little hibernating cluster of 16-Spot Ladybirds I found on a recent walk. It was a warm morning and they were just waking up and starting to disperse.

Great song by Jars of Clay. The sunset this morning from the top of Rattlesnake Ledge. The only bright spot of color in a gray rainy day.

This is a hike I have done at least 50+ times and I never tire of it, the views are always a great pay off for a short energetic hike.
