Does anyone recognize the lower decal? This bike was sold to my friend at the 2008 Copake Bicycle Auction as a "1930s Hercules Male Tourer."
so, a while back we had to put herc on the disabled list for 3 wks because of extreme soreness and limping in his right leg, due, probably, to chasing the soccer ball with me. after he healed, we resumed normal activities. a few weeks ago i noticed his right foot looked really odd, and it took me a moment to realize his knuckles weren't typical, that his paw was flat and splayed. he didn't limp on it, and he showed no signs of it bothering him. it felt normal to my fingers, but i was terrified of bone loss or something similar. the vet took one look and said he has stretched tendons: where they normally keep the foot pulled up, herc's were allowing the foot to flatten. and it could get worse. treatment: back on the disabled list, and he's supposed to wear a splint that turns him into a peg leg, confining the foot in a straight position. not fun at all, for us or him. how it happened, i don't know, but i imagine it was incremental and leaning out over the water from this dock played a part.

I'm not sure what was going on with the solder... Might be salvageable, might have to replace... works for now. I'm not up at all on these bikes... Is the chain gaurd original?
Because of the warm weather, we're worried there will be even more orphaned kittens than usual this "kitten season". If you want to help us get stocked up and ready, I made a Bottle Baby Wish List on Amazon. Better yet, if you want to foster a kitten or five, or care for a nursing mom and her kittens, send me an email! Here's the link to the list - amzn.com/w/BDZCU9CQOA0H
