Both her grandparents and her parents told her when she was just a child that the things stretching down those stairs wanted her no harm.
As a grown woman she found it that much harder to believe, and the less she believed, the more menacing they seemed.
Right now she felt it was as good a time as any to cry out loudly for HELP!
My flatmate Nina helped doing the shadows.

I've learned in life that it is okay to ask for help sometimes, it isn't a sign of weakness, instead its a sign of strength.
The Help Discothèque was closed and in its place a new Museum of the Image and Sound ( to keep the Brazilian Popular Music collection ) will be built, according to a project by an office from NY, which promises to bring modern architecture and technology to the famous Copacabana beach.

Vacation begins! But it'll be a few days before it is fully realized. Had to lock Toby in the bathroom while the movers did their thing. He wasn't pleased.
“I find it fascinating that most people plan their vacations with better care than they plan their lives. Perhaps that is because escape is easier than change.”

Amsterdam (pronounced /ˈæmstərdæm/; Dutch Nl-Amsterdam.ogg [ɑmstərˈdɑm] (help·info)) is the capital and largest city of the Netherlands, located in the province of North Holland in the west of the country. The city, which had a population (including suburbs) of 1.36 million on 1 January 2008, comprises the northern part of the Randstad, the sixth-largest metropolitan area in Europe, with a population of approximately 6.7 million.
Its name is derived from Amstellerdam,[6] indicative of the city's origin: a dam in the river Amstel. Settled as a small fishing village in the late 12th century, Amsterdam became one of the most important ports in the world during the Dutch Golden Age, a result of its innovative developments in trade. During that time, the city was the leading centre for finance and diamonds.[7] In the 19th and 20th centuries, the city expanded, and many new neighbourhoods and suburbs were formed. The 17th-century canals of Amsterdam (in Dutch: 'Grachtengordel'), located in the heart of Amsterdam, were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2010.
The city is the financial and cultural capital of the Netherlands.[8] Many large Dutch institutions have their headquarters there, and 7 of the world's top 500 companies, including Philips and ING, are based in the city.[9] In 2010, Amsterdam was ranked 13th globally on quality of living[10] by Mercer, and previously ranked 3rd in innovation by 2thinknow in the Innovation Cities Index 2009.[11]
The Amsterdam Stock Exchange, the oldest stock exchange in the world, is located in the city centre. Amsterdam's main attractions, including its historic canals, the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum, Hermitage Amsterdam, Anne Frank House, its red-light district, and its many cannabis coffee shops draw more than 3.66 million international visitors annually.[12]

Believe it or not, this little guy can help you bake a perfect pie!
Steam funnels, also known as pie birds, pie vents, pie chimneys, or pie whistles, where originally developed in Victorian-era kitchens to prevent pie filing from bubbling through the crust while baking. The earliest versions of steam funnels were cylindrically shaped and looked like miniature chimneys. The popularity for these kitchen gadgets grew towards the end of the 1890’s and variations of steam funnels were patented in both Australia and the United States. In the 1930s these funnels began to take the shape of hungry birds, inspired by the classic nursery rhyme: “four and twenty blackbirds, baked in a pie”.
While any experienced baker will tell you a slit in the pie crust will do just as good a job, steam funnels have been put to use in other culinary ways. In a 1942 edition of the Charlottetown Guardian, it is recommended to place a pie funnel in a saucepan of milk to prevent boiling over. Pie funnels can still be purchased today in a variety of fun shapes!

A Deep South bee I associate with piney woods on the coastal plain. Rather Herc for a Lasioglossum, but the shade of blue and the dark orangish legs help direct you towards the identification of this species. this one from mysterious and rich in odd bees Cumberland Island, Georgia. The murmuring of bees has ceased;
But murmuring of some
Posterior, prophetic,
Has simultaneous come,--
The lower metres of the year,
When nature's laugh is done,--
The Revelations of the book
Whose Genesis is June.
