Can anyone help? I made these cupcakes, black and white theme, but failed miserably with the black buttercream even though I used 'extra black' paste. Would love to know if there is something else you can buy to make black buttercream. Any help or ideas most gratefully received!! x

The Devil's Punch Bowl is a large natural amphitheatre and beauty spot near Hindhead, Surrey, in England, and is the source of many stories about the area. The old London to Portsmouth road (the A3) runs along one of its higher contours. The land is now owned and maintained by the National Trust as part of the "Hindhead Commons & The Devil's Punch Bowl Café" property. Hindhead Youth Hostel is located inside the bowl. It was once called Highcombe, after the Celtic term combe, meaning forested valley. The lower part of the bowl is still named Highcombe Bottom. Above the London to Portsmouth road lies Gibbet Hill, Hindhead.
However, local legend has a much more colourful theory as to its creation. According to one story, during the Middle Ages the Devil became so irritated by all the churches being built in Sussex that he decided to dig a channel from the English Channel, through the South Downs, and flood the area. As he began digging, he threw up huge lumps of earth, each of which became a local landmark — such as Chanctonbury Ring, Cissbury Ring, Mount Caburn and Rackham Hill. He got as far as the village of Poynings (an area known as the Devil's Dyke) when he was disturbed by a cock crowing (one version of the story claims that it was the prayers of St Dunstan that made all the local cocks crow earlier than usual). Assuming that dawn was about to break, he leapt into Surrey, creating the Devil's Punch Bowl where he landed.
Another story goes that, in his spare time, he hurled lumps of earth at the god Thor to annoy him. The hollow he scooped the earth out of became the Punchbowl. The local village of Thursley means Thor's place. Such stories are considered to be of Celtic, Norse, and Saxon origin.
It is these stories, the beauty of the area and the diversity of nature it attracts that has gained the Devil's Punch Bowl the title of a Site of Special Scientific Interest. This title has recently helped save the Devil's Punch Bowl from redevelopment of the A3 which is needed to relieve traffic congestion in the area, this section of the A3 being only single-carriageway. The National Trust have co-operated with developers who have designed a twin bore tunnel running underneath the surrounding area of the Devil's Punch Bowl. The tunnel will not only preserve the area from the road widening originally proposed but, once complete, will remove the heavy traffic congestion which affects this section of the A3 in peak hours, in turn bringing considerable environmental benefits and tranquillity to this internationally valued area.

Clare volunteered to carry my pack for me and ended up with big bruises because it's so old and badly designed.
Helper, Utah.
Helper is situated at the mouth of Price Canyon, alongside the Price River, on the eastern side of the Wasatch Plateau in Central Utah. Trains traveling westward from the Price side to the Salt Lake City side of the plateau required additional "helper" engines in order to make the steep (2.4% grade) 15 mile climb up Price Canyon to the town of Soldier Summit. Helper was named after these helper engines, which the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad stationed in the city.

These are the intentions we prayed during the novena at Saint John’s Evangelist Parish every 4:00 PM. We used the novena format you posted in the website. First, we recite the Reflection, then the daily prayer, concluding prayer, then the Litany of St. Philomena and our Living Rosary and lastly the prayer for priests (everyday). At first we do not have help especially do not have money. I was worried that I cannot schedule a Holy Mass for St. Philomena until 10 good people helped me financially. I organized the Holy Mass and invited some of our ULRA member priests. We had tarpaulin as our advertisement and some coupon posted in walls and schools.

There were a lot of people who attended the Mass and gave thanks to St. Philomena for her undeniable prayers/ intercessions.
We also made cake for St. Philomena.
Flowers during the Novena and during the Mass were very much beautiful.
The large icon of St. Philomena – that was the tarpaulin you sent me, was framed and placed in the Parish for the devotees. During the Holy Mass, Rev. Fr. Jonathan Songcuan brought his relic of St. Philomena. It is a paper, but the paper was used to cover the bones of St. Philomena from Mugnano, Italy and the signature of the Cardinal and description of the bone is seen at the back of the icon of St. Philomena (see picture)
During the sermon of Msgr. Magno, he told the people that St. Philomena was never removed from the Sainthood; He defended her by means of Papal support and the saint especially Ven. Pauline and St. John Vianney. He also told the people that St. Philomena is a gift to us in our time, she teaches us about purity, patience and love to God. He addressed it to the youth of todays especially when Msgr. Magno talked about the “sin against purity”.
But before the mass will begin, we recited the last day novena, when all the microphones at the main altar has no sound. I am very sure that it was the work of the devil to stop the solemnity, but we did not lose hope, we transferred to the side chapel of the Cathedral and there we celebrated the Holy Mass.
I am very much grateful to all the people who helped me make the celebration a successful one. I did my best to bring Saint Philomena in the Mother church of the Archdiocese of Lingayen – Dagupan, to show that she was never removed a saint and that the Archdiocese is very much supportive to my mission.

I have neglected flickr lately. We are trying to get a lot of The House finished by Sept 3rd when we have a special guest.
But as you can see, this is all just an excuse as the work is done by slaves.
(I just got to wash the paint out of their clothes afterwards..... From now on it's pants for them!)
Premier SIPS Help Create a Tight, Well-Insulated Building Envelope for Finn Hill Junior High
The SIP panels will help the school district reduce energy costs, and allow for smaller, more cost-effective mechanical systems. Reducing heating and cooling consumption was critical for the building’s “net-zero energy ready” design, meaning that the potential area for the roof-mounted solar panels is sufficient to power all the school’s needs. The school will open with one of the largest solar panel installations in the state.

... who helped me from the woods to my car after my calf muscle suddenly tore while I was out for a leisurely hike. You said you hoped I'd gotten some good photos before it happened; here's one I thought you might like.
This happened Thursday evening and hurt A LOT. I had been walking slowly on paths in the woods and, as I stepped from one rock to the next crossing a stream, felt a sudden popping pain in my calf that made me look behind myself to see if a large stick had broken and stabbed me back there - it felt just as if someone had slammed me in the calf with a ball-peen hammer. When I tried to put weight on that leg the pain was so excruciating I had to just sit down for a bit. A couple of women passing by helped me calm down and got me out and to my car.
I skipped work Friday and getting myself to the doc was a chore. She said Yep, sounds like a torn muscle; take it easy and take these pills. So that's what I'm doing. I'm a bit more mobile today but suspect I'll be hobbling about for a while. This makes getting out to look for the orchids I was hoping to find at Scott's Run a bit more difficult. Maybe next year...
The Rue Anemones blooming now in the woods were beautiful though.
