Southern Pacific SD40M-2 No. 8582 crosses D-Street in Helper, Utah the morning of Dec. 17, 1994. The locomotive was built Chicago & North Western SD45 No. 951 in January 1969.
This little chap decided to watch me taking part in doing a 24 hour Common Guillemot Feeding watch. This is where I monitor the colony, counting the chicks every 20 minutes, recording the times each bird comes back with the fish, The Identity and the size of the fish in relationship to its bill length.
We even recorded any other notes such a chick predation and any chicks that fledge.
This is the same bird as yesterday folks only a little perplexed, the little Gekko just would not give up and thought this image said it all.
The little guy didn't make it, but a valiant try none the least.
Have a great day everyone, be safe and thanks for the visit as always.
A few days ago I commented on a stunning B&W portrait, on a contacts stream (Charlotte) and mentioned that one of the weddings I had done was entirely in mono, she said she would like to see a mono wedding image, so I thought why not. I didn't want to show any faces so ended up with this image. The formal images of the bride and groom were finished in the garden of the hotel and we were heading back to the reception, i grabbed this candid shot, the ones I like the most !!
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
Anyone else finding their butterfly bush leaves all chewed up like this... and I never see any insects!! Do they come out at night to party??!!
This happens every year and looks terrible...
I'd appreciate suggestions... but I can't use pesticides because it is near the Milkweed....
cries come and cries go
some by death and some by slow
slow slow degrees
let our cries be realized
put your hand where your heart lies
so no one dies from sorrow, hunger,
and the magic we can wonder
will come alive and thrive
on a planet called earth.
The little man answers the call,
“I heard you could use a little help, Santa!”
Skippy envisioned his universe with the help of the following magical creations:
8f8’s Arbor with Vines, Amber Lamps, String Lights, Ornament Lights, and Trellises with Vines, which are all part of the Amberlight Arbor Collection!
anc’s Frozen Grove Trees!
anc’s Mystic Dewgrass!
NOMAD’s PBR Snow!
Let’s keep lifting one another up and shining our light so bright, my friends.
Wishing you a warm and welcoming holiday season!
And and and… Santa is on his way!

Happy fence Friday! I hope you all aren't getting sick of all my shots with pink cherry blossom bokeh. I just can't help myself, and they are only around for such a short time.
Conrail EMD SD40 Nos. 6280 and 6277 helper locomotives are on the rear of an eastbound freight, assisting with braking on the Allegheny Mountains crossing west of Altoona, Pennsylvania, on October 21, 1988. The train is rolling through famous Horseshoe Curve, and besides helping the train downgrade, it’s a convenient way to get the helper units back to Altoona for another push.
Rio Grande GP30s No. 3007 and 3011 shove on the rear of an eastbound merchandise train through the Gilluly, Utah on June 12, 1977.

A quartet of Burlington Northern F-units couple to a ballast train in the former Great Northern yard at Essex, Montana. The parade of Cascade Green machines will soon enter the main line and proceed east toward the summit of Marias Pass.
No sitting here for the present!
Un-Happy Bench Monday!

Happy FlyDay Friday! The biggest Robber Fly I’ve ever seen, about 3cm. It was also reasonably photo-friendly, I’d get a few shots in, then it would fly to another nearby plant, and let me take a few more — rinse and repeat about 5 times! Its whiskers have caught the late afternoon sun (it’s a natural light shot), but surprisingly the eye-patch did not blow-out. Eye blow-outs are an unpleasant addition to most natural light shots of robbers and dragonflies. Maybe the low sun angle helped?—————————————— Single outdoor, handheld, natural light shot, with a Sony A7S, 90mm Sony 2.8 lens, F13, iso 4000, shutter 1/250s, RAW-LR6-Topaz Apps

Denver and Rio Grande Western GP40 No. 3083 is the east unit on a helper set at Minturn, Colorado, in July 1984. Behind No. 3083 is a GP40-2, a SD40T-2, a SD45, and two more SD40T-2s. One track over in front of Minturn’s small enginehouse is GP35 No. 3043. These large helper sets were used on the steep 3-percent eastward grade up Tennessee Pass out of the crew change town of Minturn.

In the summer of 2003, Crawford Hill on BNSF’s Butte Subdivision out of Alliance, Nebraska, featured at least three sets of Cascade green three-window EMD SD60M helper sets, mostly equipped with a fuel tender. On July 22, 2003, a trio of these former BN EMDs rolls downgrade at Breezy Point just west of Belmont, heading back to Crawford after pushing a BNSF coal train over the grade.
Hello dear visitors,
In this exhibition, I invite you to experience the concept of "consciousness" through photographs. Let's discuss and debate the sum of our experiences, feelings, and awareness, and together question our intellectual and emotional processes as we oscillate between boredom and passing the time.
Throughout the flow of photographs, I hope that internal and external stimuli, along with some symbolic elements, will invite you to reflect on what motivates you in your consciousness during a spontaneous day.
I hope you have a pleasant time, keeping in mind the idea that the artist is the embodiment of "consciousness," deeply feeling all the pain of life and returning the surreal universes they create to art lovers through a work of art.

Looning north just before sunset, on an exceptionally clear afternoon. Beyond the large white condo (a vacation rental) is San Simeon Point, then Point Piedras Blancas, and in the far distance the Santa Lucia range meets the sea, where Big Sur 'officially' begins.
In the foreground are Ice Age unconsolidated sands, from great dunes that spread inland during the low sea-stand when much of the ocean water was frozen into ice-sheets a mile or more thick, over Canada, New England, and much of northern Eurasia. Dry land extended to the Farallones off future San Francisco! The last Great Warming ended only about 9,000 years ago. Of course, the Earth's climate continues to warm, as does a lively debate over how much of the warming is due to humans, and how much is natural. You won't read much about the actual scientific debate, sadly, in the popular press, as this has become an item of faith among True Believers. But, geologically speaking, we're at risk of a return of the Ice -- and human CO2 emissions may help to keep that at bay. A respectable (but controversial) hypothesis.
