The Male/Female Statue at Penn Station in Baltimore is both loved and hated by the city. I for one find it ugly and bizarre but I can not help being fascinated by it. It is in the wrong place in my opinion. If it were at the Inner Harbor it would probably be more widely accepted. But at the classically designed Penn Station its sticks out like a sore thumb. Here is some info from Wikipedia that kind of explains the story,.
In 2004, the City of Baltimore, through its public arts program, commissioned noted sculptor Jonathan Borofsky to create a sculpture as the centerpiece of a re-designed plaza in front of Penn Station. His work, a 51-foot (15.5 m)-tall aluminum statue entitled "Male/Female", has generated considerable controversy ever since. Its defenders cite the contemporary imagery and artistic expression as complementing an urban landscape, while opponents criticize what they decry as a clash with Penn Station's Beaux-Arts architecture, detracting from its classic lines.
As The Baltimore Sun editorialized,[3]
"Could this explain why defenders of "Male/Female", the sculpture in front of Penn Station, get so irritable? That large piece of quadrupedal artwork is out there all on its own, unclothed of commemorative armor that might deflect public criticism – unless you want to think of it as a memorial to the war between the sexes, but that's an issue that people tend to have a lot of different and strongly held opinions about anyway. No, "Male/Female" gets a lot of attention strictly on its artistic merits, and much of it isn't very positive, especially concerning its setting in front of the Beaux–Arts railroad station. This drives its proponents up the wall."
Three years later, Baltimore Sun columnist Dan Rodricks ridiculed the artwork, writing on August 26, 2007, "Patrons of art here paid $750,000 for a 51-foot sculpture...that looks like Gort from The Day the Earth Stood Still. I look at it and want to say: 'Klaatu barada nikto!' It's the first thing visitors see when they walk out of the train station."[4] Another Sun reporter, commenting in July 2008 on what she described as the "stormy relationship" between Baltimore and public art, said "People's hate for Penn Station's behemoth Male/Female sculpture has burned for years."[5]
This was part of the Help Portrait Project. It's the Astoria group. This batch was shot with a Panasonic Lumx LX-3 point & shoot with available light. Editing was done in Photoshop. I didn't spend too much time editing. I just adjusted for highlights & shadows mostly.

when it comes to anything i post that i made, as in, models/concept art for my game, animations, builds, etc. i LOVE negative criticism i cant stand when i do a shitty job on something (like my lego builds) and i know it, but i dont know what the hell im doing wrong, whats bad, whats good, ffs, i dont mind positive criticism, it at least lets me know i did something right,
im trying to become a better builder, i need as much negative criticism as you can throw at me, where am i going wrong.
This photograph was published in the Illustrated Chronicle on the 25th of August 1915.
During the Great War the Illustrated Chronicle published photographs of soldiers and sailors from Newcastle and the North East of England, which had been in the news. The photographs were sent in by relatives and give us a glimpse into the past.
The physical collection held by Newcastle Libraries comprises bound volumes of the newspaper from 1910 to 1925. We are keen to find out more about the people in the photographs. If you recognise anyone in the images please comment below.

A West Elk coal train is having helpers added at Helper, UT while an empty coal train passes by behind it.
Week 4's theme was “Butterfly Bonanza.” The Polar Bears and Penguins created and decorated magnetic butterfly memo clips. In Ceramics, the campers enjoyed painting their clay hands and foot prints. All your
children’s projects will be sent home shortly. We are so excited for all the progress the children have made in swimming. The swim reports will be sent home at the end of the summer.
With the weather extremely hot, we changed our schedule to include more indoor activities. This helped both the campers and counselors stay as cool as possible. Of course, we added additional swim periods and encouraged lots of water breaks to help everyone beat the heat.
Both groups have started practicing their “Puttin’ on the Hits” dances. The children are excited about performing in front of the whole camp at the Best of “Puttin’ on the Hits.” The Polar Bears are dancing to “Magic” by B.O.B. and the Penguins are grooving to “Move It” by Baha Men. We will make sure to capture these memories.

you are invited to a series of events: 1. a conversation, 2. a film, 3. a traveling collective public grief altar, and 4. an online archive of our offerings--to the deceased, to the living, to ourselves, to each other. we begin with a conversation between devynn emory and artist Okwui Okpokwasili, presented by Danspace Project on wednesday, march 31 at 4:00pm PDT / 7:00pm EDT, followed by a world premiere of deadbird the film. you’ll also be able to stream the film via PICA from may 27th through 30th.
from may 28th through 30th, you will be able to visit the public grief altar, can anybody help me hold this body, in-person at PICA’s outdoor back lot. while there, please take a photo of your offering and archive it at www.deadbird.land/archive. the audience is encouraged to engage with all aspects of this work.
with the thoughtful support of Danspace Project and the Eureka Commissions Program by Onassis USA, deadbird is a film-reimagining of a live-work by devynn emory that was initially going to premiere at Danspace Project in NYC in spring 2020. this film is a grief space for devynn’s body as a hospice / COVID-19 nurse and spirit medium, and is also a balm to reimagine care. deadbird has always served as a container to process the intensity of nursing and honor the lives of those who have passed in their care. this became even more important during COVID-19.
in collaboration with Danspace Project, Onassis USA, Bartram’s Garden, and PICA, this project expanded to a national tour with deadbird and can anybody help me hold this body being presented in New York, Philadelphia, Portland, and LA. in each location, public grief altars will be tended by a local BIPOC artist who will be honoring the land they reside on and creating space for you. in Portland, this artist is Maya Vivas. if you are not in one of the touring cities or prefer to practice differently, instructions on how to create a grief space of your own are offered online at www.deadbird.land/at-home.
deadbird has and will continue to take many forms, and serves as a container to process and bridge devynn’s work in the world as an edgewalker, spiritual guide, bodyworker, choreographer, performer, and hospice nurse.

2. locate a meaningful item of your selection in honor of a loved one lost, or medicine for the collective moment. you are invited to photograph the offering and upload it to the online archive before arriving at the altar

4. an altar tender will be present at the appointed times, although you are welcome to visit at any time during PICA hours
5. when you arrive at the altar, you are invited to place your item where you are called to do so.

TRANSPORTATION/NEIGHBORHOOD
PICA is located in the Boise-Eliot neighborhood of northeast Portland. We are close to bus lines 4, 6, 17, and 44. Stops for the A Loop and B Loop Streetcar are approximately 0.3 miles from our building. The nearest max station is Rose Quarter Transit Center which is approximately 0.5 miles away. On-street parking is available. Please be aware that we reside in a residential area and therefore ask that all PICA guests, staff, and audience members treat our neighborhood and neighbors, housed and unhoused, with the utmost respect.
COVID-19 SAFETY
All staff and guests over the age of 2 are required to wear a mask that meets current CDC guidelines at all times. The capacity for this outdoor space is not to exceed 25 people at a distance of at least 6 feet apart. Anyone who is experiencing or exhibiting any symptoms of Covid-19 or who has been in contact with others who are, are asked to stay home to avoid the risk of exposing others.

Há o tempo de plantar e o tempo de colher. Todos nós temos presa para viver, nunca de morrer. Temos tempo para a internet, para um amigo, para brincar, para trabalhar, mas nunca temos tempo para parar e ajudar. Temos tempo para ver TV, ler jornais, um bom livro, mas nunca tempo para ler um pedido de ajuda.
Mas há quem não tem mais tempo. Quem não teve tempo de plantar. Quem mal tem tempo para brincar. Quem mal vai ter tempo de dizer: “Eu te amo mamãe, papai!!!”. Porque em algum lugar alguém não teve tempo para parar e ler essa mensagem, para procurar saber do que se tratava, sobre quem se estava falando, de procurar saber como poderia ajudar; já que quem deveria ajudar não acha tempo para isso, porque não acha importante, porque é um investimento que não tem retorno no curto espaço de tempo ou porque acha que seu tempo é valioso demais para gastar com quem não tem tanto tempo de vida assim.
Pare um momento. Procure se informar, ler, ajudar. Quem já conta os segundos para a despedida final vai agradecer de coração por esses poucos instantes de tempo, que você dedicou a elas.
Não deixe que o relógio das vidas delas pare só porque você não queria perder tempo. Ajude!!! Divulge!!! Dê corda nesses pequenos relógios de vida.

There is a time for planting and a time for harvesting. We are all in a hurry to live, not to die.We have time for internet, for friends, for playing, for working and we never have time to stop and help others. We have time for watching TV, reading the papers or a good book but we never have time for reading a message asking for help.
But there are the ones who don’t have any more time to lose. The ones who didn’t have time to plant. That barely have time to play. That won’t have time to say “I love you, mom, dad”. Because someone, somewhere didn’t have time to read this message, to try to know what it means, to try to know how to help. Because many times who could help don’t have the time, because it’s not an investment with short term interest or because thinks its time is too valuable to spend with somenone who doesn’t have that much time.
Stop for a moment.Try to read and get informed. The children that are about to say their goodbyes to life will be thankful for these few moments you took to help them.. Don’t let their life clocks stop just because you didn’t want to waste your time. Help them! Spread the word! Wind up these little life clocks
What an amazing feeling it is when you know that you helped someone who truly needs assistance and would not have been able to afford it. To know that it is because of your help, someone’s life got a little bit easier and safer. That was the goal and vision of Joseph Harper, a boy with Duchene Muscular Dystrophy, who 5 years ago created The Wheeled Scotsman’s Foundation to do just that….to help people with mobility issues who cannot afford to make their homes safe because certain accommodations like ramps, pull bars in the bathroom, wheelchair accessible showers, etc. are usually not covered by insurance. Sadly, Joey passed away in January of 2010, yet his vision and legacy lives on in the people whose lives he has impacted as well as his family and friends who continue to run The Wheeled Scotsman.
It is with renewed vigor and urgency that we push forward and try to help as many people as we can. To date, The Wheeled Scotsman Foundation has been able to help more than 10 families make their homes safer. We send out our contractors, pay for all permits, and complete all work at absolutely no cost to the family or individual. Although we wish we could help everyone on our waiting list, we are limited by funds. 100% of the money raised through fundraisers, like the Black Sheep Run, is spent to help others and this is where we need your help!!!
The Kid’s 1 Mile Fun Run will start at 9 am. The Family Fun Walk will start at 9:15 am. The 5K will start at 9:30 am. Dogs on leashes and baby strollers are all welcomed. Awards will be given when all the races for that day have finished. This includes: top male and female for each category as well as the top five males and females of each category will also be recognized. Categories consist of: dogs on leash, baby joggers, and headphones

i was informed by owner and tenants of this building at 1000 parker st. today that despite how much they love the graf and street art on their building, the city has informed them that with the olympics coming it will ALL be removed. very saddened by this news, i photograph here at least once a month.

I have tried giving a soft look to the skin of the baby using Surface Blur tool and then subsequently using erase tool and heal tool to clear some part!!! Also i have used Burn tool and Blur tool a little bit!!!
I'm not so sure if i have done it quiet well!!! Your suggestions and comments will be really very helpful!!!!
