In a light rain, a Bozeman Pass helper set rolls out of the east end of Livingston Yard. After clearing the control point behind me, it will shove backwards onto a train out of sight to the left to help it up the east slope of Bozeman Pass.

To help pea plants grow
Last year I used canes and garden string to give the pea plants some support, and something to grab onto. It was a bit messy and awkward.
This year I thought I’d try something new, so I made this rectangular frame.
It’s 8ft long and 1 metre high (Yes, a mixture of imperial and metric measurements!). I ordered 2” x 2” timber from the woodyard… but they got it wrong and gave me 3” x 2”’ timber. It was meant to be as it works well.
I stapled plastic mesh on both sides of the frame; as the mesh was green I painted the timber green too.
The frame sits between two rows of pea plants.
We’ll see if it works.
I’m on with making another 6ft long one for another raised bed… I’ll work on it on Saturday.

A quartet of AT&SF RSD-15's, two of them badly ailing, have managed to drag their train into this mountain town and have called for the aid of a helper that was in the siding at Cliff. The four EMD's are coupling into the train here and soon the eight units will once again have tonnage in motion." - Doug Harrop
Amtrak 153 heads south into its station stop at Ashland behind a visiting engine from NS. The previous day's train 84 from Norfolk hit a substantial downed tree on the way north, causing significant damage that warranted the replacement engine. As is the tradition for these power swaps, the borrowed engine led a train back to home rails the next day.
A free moment now that the preparation of the school lunch is under control. The ladies help provide a healthy meal for the students of the Higher Primary School in Krishnarajpet, Karnataka.
Approaching dusk, the Laurel-Bozeman is tackling the pass with help from a helper set on the point of the decently-sized train.

You can help put a stop to the cruelty that billions of animals suffer every single day.
Mushrooms, prolific in all the recent rains, around the base of a banana tree sprout. The banana trees were displaced by the January sewer lateral replacement and are making progress.
We have 9 different species of hawks in Minnesota. A few of them look very similar to the eye of a layman.
It helps me when they have at least one very distinguishing feature, like this red-tailed hawk.

Rather than cause anxiety, the presence of many boxes as I pack up in preparation for our move next week has proven to be a delight for Sundae and Pearl, in particular.
From a feline point of view, one can never have too many boxes!
The driver had a medical condtion, side swip a pickup and rolled his SUV. Neigbors were already helping and the fire deparment was called. The driver is doing fine.

After helping a coal train to Soldier Summit, six Rio Grande ‘Tunnel Motors’ depart east for Helper, Utah on Sept. 22, 2000. A UP C40-8 was parked in the yard, assigned to work train duties.
Its 2 am I just came home not too long ago I was planning on getting help today on choosing my photos and my first option to ask help from is no longer as of yesterday and the second option which is my ex I didn’t feel comfortable with but had no choice I couldn’t do it on my own I had to build a theme and its very hard. My ex is a very successful photographer and he also teaches photography so he has a good eye . I really like what we did and what he chose and we decided what will go on the walls together with what and everything. It was so good to be busy with that and not think about yesterday for an hour or so…
Ive been very sad today I tried to sleep most of the day through actually. Im not that devastated simply because I am very very strong and its true what I said a while ago about my heart being the most put together organ in my body cause its not even cracked or anything. Why would it be..? I love and am loved its just … ughhhh
I swing between completely understanding him to thinking he's psycho! For loving me so much and letting me go. I think gd is "playing" with me ever since that voice I heard when I was 13 I've been very close to all my higher guidance and I talk to them constantly and I was begging to meet my man already I was missing someone I didn’t even know and I was going crazy I think maybe they said .." ok you want to meet him and see who it is thats fine ! but he's not ready !!" the first time we went out I felt something. We went up to his place after a few drinks at a near bar and the chemistry was amazing … he went to pee or get water I don’t remember I looked out the window and said " its him isn’t it !!" I really cant explain it and maybe im the one that’s psycho! I don’t know… thank gd I have the exhibition to keep me busy right now. my cousin is having a b day tomorrow and I don’t feel like drinking again but going out will be good for me. I guess…
I also think I talked the talk so now I have to walk the walk. I said I was gonna open my heart and be vulnerable without being afraid. I did it… now I have to live it and not close up! That’s the test I think and I'm not closing up not at all its funny but I'm so open ! and I do have so much to give. finally I have so much to give without being drained and emptied like i was in the past.
I have two new helpers for the Christmas cookie baking: Baby Groot and Kitchenaid. I'm going to need their help! I'm getting a VERY late start!

Heavy trains need a lot of help in their assault of Mullan Pass on the Montana Rail Link. This loaded coal train is no exception, as a 4-pack of MRL SD70ACe's serve as mid-train helpers to help climb the 2.2% westbound grade to the summit.

I can't help but laugh laugh laugh every time I see this picture. I gave ToeEater a bath yesterday and could not resist snapping a few pictures of her. It's so funny how every time I turn on the water she rushes over and tries to climb into the tub. This time the joke was on her. As soon as I put her in, she gave me those little puppy dog eyes and I could feel her trying to make me feel bad. Too bad, she got a bath anyway...
She's all nice and fluffy now. Not to mention she smelled like raspberries for a good 15minutes.

Saturday Self Challenge
This week anything Vintage/Retro. Process however you wish. May be colour or B&W. There is a lot of opportunity to be creative!
Calcium Carbide lamps originally date from around the start of the 20th century. This pair belong to my husband who used them for caving, they are from the mid 1970’s.
The caving, or mining lamp, has calcium carbide placed in its lower chamber, called the generator. Water is then put in the upper reservoir.
A valve is used to control the rate at which the water drips through into the chamber containing the calcium carbide. Controlling the rate of the flow of water determines the production of acetylene gas. This in turn controls the rate of the gas flow and the size of the flame at the burner and the amount of light it produces.
The lamp has a reflector behind the flame to help project the light forward, this type of lamp produces a very bright broad light.
