This is a close up view of the load as it exits Northern Parade, Hilsea. It was marked Siemens and I think it is a transformer. If not then I am an idiot which is entirely possible.
Please also see my album notes for the background story.
ALE Heavylift performed two moves from Siemens on Shields Road in Walkergate to Neptune Energy Park in Low Walker for loading onto a barge. ALE Unipower P547HNT was the tractor for this trailer seen during the move heading from Fisher Street into Neptune energy park.

ALE Heavylift performed a movement of an electrical transformer weighing in at around 230 tonnes from Stella (Blaydon) to Wallsend overnight from 15th August to 16th August. On arrival at Swan Hunters in Wallsend it's to be shipped by barge to Ellesmere Port where it will be put back on the road to be taken to its destination of Oldbury. Seen at the North End of the Tyne Tunnel at East Howdon, the convoy is seen waiting to continue along Hadrian Road to Wallsend. The move was powered by a pair of ALE Trojan 8870 trucks with BX64KSE at the front with BX65OAW powering from the rear.
Departed at 06:00 for a 13 hour flight to Dubai loaded with a Bristow helicopter, only to return a few minutes later due to a fuel leak on its number 2 engine. Fire trucks were brought out as a precaution. Seen here landing again, note the no2 engine feathered. The problem was solved and the aircraft with 4 crew on board departed again at approximately 10:00. This is the only operating Shorts SC-5 Belfast in the world! Only ten were ever built, seven of which have since been scrapped, one is a museum piece, and another is undergoing restoration work to fly for this same airline.

EI-BND was the unique Conroy Skymonster, a conversion of a standard CL-44 with an outsize fuselage. It was originally designed specifically to ferry Rolls-Royce RB.211 engines from Belfast to Palmdale for Lockheed TriStar production, but later found a useful role as a general transport for any outsize cargo.
