ALE successfully completed the transportation and lifting of 25 heavy lifts for Thai Growth Project.
The project took place within a 30 day window, using the AL.SK190 as the main lift crane, as it enabled significant cost and schedule savings to the construction process.
The heavy lifts ranged from 73te to 813te and were lifted from one location to avoid the cost and time of re-digging / re-rigging and re-locations.
Due to the high out-reach capacity of the AL.SK190, the columns could be lifted over the new structure, which avoided the need for multiple crane locations and enabled other structures and pipe racks to be installed ahead of schedule.
The lifting window was successfully reduced from three months to 30 days and minimum ground preparation was required for the 25te m² loading under the mast foot and ballast.
GCS Johnson Ltd of Richmond, North Yorks were also involved with the move using their Mercedes Benz Arcos, although it had the smaller load, it was still without doubt an important part of the wind turbine. It is seen here on Shields Road in Walkergate leaving the Siemens Factory.
