Seen at the North End of the Tyne Tunnel at East Howdon, the convoy is seen waiting to continue along Hadrian Road to Wallsend. One of three 180 tonne tranformers on route from ThamesPort, Isle of Grain to the new Grain Power Station, Isle of Grain. The gross weight of the whole combination is approx. 290 tons. The transformer was moved on a 22 axle Scheuele SPMT. A 12 axle line was connected next to 10 axle lines and power pack. The journey from the port to site of only 1.8 miles took an hour and thirty minutes. Due to the size of the load, a particular stretch of road had to be completly closed for approx 50 minutes with police and coucil permission but without police or council assistance and much to the anger of the local residents of the village of Grain, as the stretch of road was the only way in and out of the village. The load was moved during daylight because the electricity board had to isolate then lift an overhead cable which was not allowed to be done at night. Once unloaded, the SMPT had to be moved back to ThamesPort for the next transformer. The load was escorted by Teahan Abnormal Load Escort Services.

The "Jumbo Kinetec" is a conventional heavy lift vessel but in its class, it presently has the the largest lifting capacity in the world.
The vessel was built in Croatia and then sailed to China to have the two Huisman cranes installed.
When you have a (combined) lifting capacity of 3000 tons, the spreader bar has to be o similar capacity.
The vessel is in Antwerp to load powerplant equipment and is seen here at a lay by berth at the ABES Terminal at the 5th Haven dock preparing for the cargo.
It came in from Rostock where it loaded two Liebherr port cranes destined for India.
