Water droplets on a swan's feather. The quality of light reflections reminds me of ancient tales of the heavenly swan.

We would be even smaller than a water droplet on the feather of Cygnus the heavenly swan of as it flies along the Milky Way.

One of my favourite modern stories is in the" Island of the Setting Sun" by Anthony Murphy which is the study of Ireland's megalithic monuments through local folklore and astronomical observation.

There is an ancient tale " the vision of Angus" that links to New Grange which is built on the flood plain of the river Boyne. Every winter it is home to thousands of Bewick and Whooper swans. The floor plan of the passage at of New grange famously lit by the mid winter sun is very similar to the shape of the constellation of Cygnus.

At the time New Grange was built the entrance in the neck of the swan points to Four Knocks., whose passageway points to Cygnus at Mid winter the starry wings of the celestial swan appear to touch the earth.

This was the time when the North star was in the constellation of Cygnus (Deneb I think,) as such New Grange, Avebury and Waylands Smithy have all been shown in recent studies to be aligned to Cygnus at the time of building.

These are controversial studies but I can't help feeling that in our modern age of artificial light something wonderful has been lost when we forget how to navigate by the stars.

Together on the heavenly stairway. It seems they still have a long way to go, but who knows whatever comes their way?

Louis Armstrong and his Heavenly All-Star Band: What you Loose on Earth Shall Be Lossed in Heaven, a 28-foot by 41-foot mural by Richard Cornelius Thomas adorns the south end of the Central (Parabola) Lobby at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The mural pays tribute to the "New Orleans musicians and their legendary colleagues who created jazz, shaped it, made it a living art form and are still a part of its evolving development." It depicts Armstrong gathering his ultimate 29-piece ensemble including Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Dizzie Gillespie, Buddy Bolden, Miles Davis, Jelly Roll Morton, Billie Holiday, and Harry Connick Jr. among others.

Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (IATA: MSY, ICAO: KMSY, FAA LID: MSY), formerly known as Moisant Field, is located at 900 Airline Drive, Kenner, Louisiana and is the primary commercial airport for the New Orleans metropolitan area and of southeast Louisiana. Sitting at an average of 4.5 feet above sea level, MSY is the second lowest lying international airport in the world, to only Schiphol International Airport in The Netherlands.

Tōdai-ji (東大寺), or the Great Eastern Temple, is the Japanese headquarters of the Kegon school of Buddhism and one of Japan’s most famous and historically significant temples. Constructed in 752 as the head temple of all provincial Buddhist temples of Japan under the order of Emperor Shōmu, it quickly grew so powerful that the capital was moved out of Nara to lower its influence on government affairs. Its Great Buddha Hall (大仏殿, Daibutsuden), the largest wooden building in the world, houses the world's largest bronze statue of the Great Buddha Vairocana, known in Japanese simply as Daibutsu (大仏). According to records kept by Tōdai-ji, more than 2.6 million people in total helped construct the Great Buddha and its hall.

Under the Ritsuryō system of government in the Nara Period, Buddhism was heavily regulated by the state through the Sōgō (僧綱, Office of Priestly Affairs), and Tōdai-ji served as the central administrative temple for the provincial temples for the six Buddhist schools in Japan at the time: the Hossō, Kegon, Jōjitsu, Sanron, Ritsu and Kusha. But as the center of power in Japanese Buddhism shifted away from Nara to Mount Hiei and the Tendai sect, and later when the capital of Japan moved to Kamakura, Tōdai-ji's authoritative role declined as well.

Behind the Daibutsu, on his left, is Bishamonten (広目天), one of the Four Heavenly Kings, the King of the North, and God of Treasure, Wealth and Warriors. The name Vaiśravaṇa is a vṛddhi derivative of the Sankrit proper name Viśravaṇa from the root vi-śru "hear distinctly", (passive) "become famous."

Tōdai-ji, along with several Buddhist temples including Kōfuku-ji, Kasuga Taisha, the remains of Heijō Palace, and other sites in Nara, comprise the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara, inscribed in 1999.

First photo of the new year... And yes went about exploring another unexplored place called Nirgudi around Pune... Not very far off from home and yes located it on the google maps while looking for places nearby home... It was just 12 kms... But the last 5kms was through the hills and very rocky and dusty road... But at the end you reach the place and feel a satisfaction when you click one good Photo... Cropped the actual image to get this image...

Thanks has to go to the station worker who looked like he was about to throw me out but listened while I explained my daft film location obsession then let me wander the platform without a ticket.
