i love pants. I don't really love skirts- on me. there are times when they are needed.... I admire women who are dressy people. it really does look nice! in fact, when doing this photo Lola kept gushing about "nice shoes, pretty purse", blah, blah, blah. It's just not me. It might look nice, but I feel completely uncomfortable. In 12th grade I wore a skirt every day for the entire school year... go figure. maybe I got out all the skirt wearing I ever wanted/ needed to do! lol.
but I DO love cool purses! I don't carry them, I just look at them on my shelf. I lose purses every time I take them out. I keep my license in my pocket and my debit card right behind it :) But this old purse has a matching lipstick case (you can guess..... I own that too, but only use it at funerals/ weddings) wallet, and mirror. so cute.
the one thing you can't mess up is shoes. these guys don't get worn much, but when they do... they are comfortable. I will not wear uncomfy shoes! cute, funky, stylish, trendy.. yes! but only if they're comfy too. It's the first thing I look at when I meet a person- what kind of shoes are they wearing.
anyway... didn't leave the house again today save to pick up kids from school and drop off books to the library. In pants and my heavenly fleece. oh yeah.
Carved figures (13th Century, restored) around the central doorway of the west front of Notre Dame cathedral, Paris (France).
The theme of this central doorway is a representation of The Last Judgement, the main action of which is not in this view apart from the trumpeters on the tympanum of the doorway, on the R, who are rousing up the dead as in Handel's Messiah "The trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible." or in the Latin Requiem Mass, Tuba mirum spargens sonum - 'The trumpet, scattering a wondrous sound'). The rest of the figures make up the concentric inner arches (archivolts) of the doorway and represent the Heavenly Court. I like the row of buildings which the lowest figures are standing on. The figures are striking in their different and life-like personalities. The Cathedral was completed in the 14th Century. The architectural style is French Gothic. LONDON - PARIS - CATANIA - ROME - LONDON ----- DAY 2
Photo from the second day of our crazy long distance rail trip from home (London) to Sicily. We spent the first day travelling from home in London to Paris, by Eurostar train, and were meant to the take an overnight train from Paris to Rome that same evening. But our Eurostar train out of London was badly delayed due to 'a fatality [unexplained - perhaps fortunately] on the train'. So we missed our onward connection to Rome and had an unexpected but happy second day in Paris. We left Paris that evening, on the equivalent Rome service.
By the end of the whole holiday trip we had seen things and sites from ancient Greek time to modern, so the trip felt like a mini Grand Tour. Or given the rich mythology of Sicily, Etna and the Straits of Messina (Odysseus, the Cyclops, Scylla & Charybdis, etc.) perhaps our trip was like a modern mini Odyssey of our times. Odysseus took ten years to get home. It took us ten trains - but no monsters.

*love hurt's* ~ song lyrics by incubus

Tonight we drink to youth
And holding fast to truth
I don't want to lose what I had as a boy
My heart still has a beat
But love is now a feat
As common as a cold day in LA
Sometimes when I'm alone
I wonder, is there a spell that I am under
Keeping me from seeing the real thing?
Love hurts
But sometimes it's a good hurt
And it feels like I'm alive
Love sings
When it transcends the bad things
Have a heart and try me
Cause without love I won't survive
I'm fettered and abused
I stand naked and accused
Should I surface this one man submarine?
I only want the truth
So tonight we drink to youth
I'll never lose what I had as a boy
Sometimes when I'm alone
I wonder is there a spell that I am under
Keeping me from seeing the real thing?
Love hurts
But sometimes it's a good hurt
And it feels like I'm alive
Love sings
When it transcends the bad things
Have a heart and try me
Cause without love I won't survive
Without love I won't survive
Love hurts
But sometimes it's a good hurt
And it feels like I'm alive
Love sings
When it transcends the bad things
Have a heart and try me
Cause without love I won't survive
Love hurts
Love hurts
Without love I won't surivive
Love hurts
Love hurts
Without love I won't survive
First photo of the new year... And yes went about exploring another unexplored place called Nirgudi around Pune... Not very far off from home and yes located it on the google maps while looking for places nearby home... It was just 12 kms... But the last 5kms was through the hills and very rocky and dusty road... But at the end you reach the place and feel a satisfaction when you click one good Photo... Cropped the actual image to get this image...
Do let me know your comments...
The film ends with Helen Mirren racing to Queen street station in her Fiat Uno to catch Vic before his train leaves. Thanks has to go to the station worker who looked like he was about to throw me out but listened while I explained my daft film location obsession then let me wander the platform without a ticket.

There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.

Taken on very out of date polaroid film in summer 2004. Every afternoon at about 3pm the sun floods into a skylight at the top of these stairs to give the door a heavenly aura.
Photo of a picture in a building that caught my eye. According to the caption, this is ‘Heavenly Sword’ although she's carrying an axe (don't axe me why?). The scantily clad creation of a Cambridge based video gaming company called Ninja Theory. Quite a fiery and mean looking' young lady, but there again, she is a red head!
