Paige is a beautiful and happy 4 year old who was born healthy. At 10 months she suffered a viral infection and never fully recovered. She lives with global developmental delays, chorea, and seizures (luckily, we have reached 1 year seizure free in December). She has lesions in her basal ganglia but after 3 years of 100s of tests there is still no diagnosis. She is fortunate to have a loving 2 year old brother who is always looking out for her.

Tips For Women To Stay Healthy At Every Age
Adorable age from 10 to 19 contributes this period. Lot of question arises as the bodily changes are taking place. Menstrual pain, menstrual irregularities, anemia, bone health, sports injuries, anorexia are the few health related issues in which Mother and daughters should be aware of.
1. Menstrual pain can be addressed by taking hot-water bag to the lower tummy region and doing simple exercises like deep breathing, forward bending and hip bending exercises to increase the blood circulation to the uterine region.
2. Menstrual irregularities may be temporary but with proper nutrition and a professional help these girls can outgrow this issue and can regain normal flow.
3. Food rich in iron like dates, spinach, apple, pomegranate, seafood, raisins, green beans, peanuts, eggs, drumstick coriander etc. will prevent the growing girls from anemic condition.
4. Food rich in calcium like milk, other dairy products, oranges, almonds, broccoli, spinach etc. will strengthen their bones. Good exercise and good nutrition is very much essential for adolescent girls to prevent osteoporosis later on in their life.
5. Sports injuries like sprain and strain are quiet common. With proper stretching and strengthening exercises these girls can recover in no time.
6. Anorexia is an eating disorder in which adolescent girl think she is too fat and avoids eating in order to lose weight. With proper counseling and diet plan this can be fixed easily.

Student eating carrots sold at school: Evidence based results showed that children participating in the programme ate 2 times more fruits and vegetables than children not enrolled in the programme.
Picture taken from the Nestlé Healthy Kids Programme – Ajyal Salima at the Makassed Khalil Chehab School in Beirut. The School has been integrating the curriculum into classroom subjects since 2011 to help kids acquire nutrition knowledge and promote positive eating behavior. A 2014 study by the American University of Beirut showed improved diets, healthier eating habits and increased nutritional understanding among students who participated in the programme. Today the Programme is part of the Lebanese Ministry of Education’s school health unit curriculum for public schools. Nestlé Middle East has also rolled it out in Dubai and Saudi Arabia. The programme curriculum has been scientifically developed by the American University of Beirut, and is a member of the EPODE International Network.

One last sentimental one of the badger family together, I know the pictures all look the same but I like the way mum's keeping a lookout here while her three babies do some snuffling. She's the best badger mom ever !
She could ( and hopefully will ) become pregnant in the next couple of weeks when the blastocysts ( hollow balls of cells ) that have been dormant in her uterus implant in the uterine wall. It's possible that the blastocysts could have been present in her uterus since February after succesful mating soon after she gave birth. This period of delayed implantation therefore can be as long as 10 months or if they mate succesfully in December implantation can occur almost immediately. It's thought that changes in day length trigger implantation by increasing the amount of the hormone progesterone through increased activity of the pituitary gland. Gestation lasts 50 days and the majority of cubs are born in February. A significant number of pregnancies fail however for a number of reasons including poor body condition; she looks so big and healthy at the moment though, I really hope that doesn't happen, fingers crossed .

Mistake to Learn From: I drank way too much caffeine before a family party, and I couldn’t stop blabbing!
Music: Try listening to 104.1 the Fish. I know it’s not “cool,” but it always makes me feel good.
Media: Getting my nails/toes done, I watched Oprah. She’s basically bringing back all these people from the past and seeing how her show changed them or kept them from killing themselves, it was awesome.
Activity: Eating healthy at a family party, not as bad as I thought. No pizza for me! People may ask why I’m just eating salad, fruit, and stew… but it’s all worth it!
Theory: Naturally, everything falls to disorder. For something creative to be accomplished, the project must go through a mess phase, around 70%. It is not until the last 30% that you start to clean up and see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s those who can handle being in the mess phase that make great art, great discoveries, and do great things. We can’t jump straight to success or perfection in anything, we’ve got to start at the bottom and work to the top slowly.
(My life is always changing, therefore, my theories will change daily, so you can’t hold an old theory against me if I learn new information and change my theory. ☺)

Menkes disease is caused by a defective gene that regulates the metabolism of copper in the body. The disease primarily affects male infants. Copper accumulates at abnormally low levels in the liver and brain, but at higher than normal levels in the kidney and intestinal lining. Honest, passionate, dedicated and proud are but some of the words that describe the personality of Darren. We met while I waited for the bus to carry me back to Brooklyn from Manhattan. I had been watching as he meticulously and purposely swept up every piece of litter folks carelessly tossed about, driven it seemed by an inner desire to perfect what others chose to destroy.
After a minor altercation with a pedestrian over trash, Darren made his way over to me where he decided to vent. "I love my job", he bellowed, his words taking on a life of their own. "I do what I do because I love it. I clean this whole strip, with this broom and this bucket and I love it." Darren went on to talk about his life, his family and his desire to stay healthy. At nearly 50 he's had a stroke and severe kidney troubles. Through it all, he's managed to stay positive, focused and humble. "All I want is a thank you once in while...people don't realize how hard we work...New York City is a beast, and taming it ain't easy..."
With that, Darren extended his hand and thanked me for listening. As he walked away I couldn't help but marvel at the wonder of his spirit and think of Martin Luther King Jr., and his once profound declaration:
"If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures, sweep streets like Beethoven composed music, sweep streets like Leontyne Price sings before the Metropolitan Opera.
