Gina was born at the neighbours house. She was one of 9 brothers and sisters. The owner of Ginas parents and new puppies are assholes and doesn't feed their dogs. Ginas mother looks half dead and the puppies are not healthy at all. We adopted Gina and took her to the vet thinking she was a new born, but were told she was about 2-3 months old. She is skinny and not very active. But we're fattening her and giving her alot of love. She's one lucky puppy.

My personal comment: over commercialized, to be avoided if you don't want to be trapped amid busloads of very loud mostly Chinese tourists with big zoom lenses, smartphones and tablets. If you like fake and dress up parties, this is the place to be.
Surrounded by green mountains, Langde Shang Village is situated beside a crystal stream. Several roofed wooden bridges, called "Wind and rain" bridges by the locals, stretches over the stream. Several stone grain mills and mill wheels have been built on both sides of the stream. Ducks can be seen here and there, flapping the wings happily in the water. On the waist of the slope facing the village is a 150-meter-long racecourse and a flat ground, whose area is about 8 mu (mu is a traditional unit of area, equaling to 0.0667 hectare or 1/6 acre). On March 5th of the lunar calendar every year, thousands of young Miao people from the region where the four counties, Leishan, Kaili, Majiang, and Danzhai, have a common boundary, come to the place. They climb the mountains, sing musical dialogues in antiphonal styles, and race horses.
The Langde Shang Village is located at the foot of a mountain. There are five “flower roads” leading to the village. A wood gatehouse, called the "village gate", is built at the eastern, western and northern entrances of the village. Row upon row of wood houses (those propped up by wooden supports with ladders leading up) makes a picturesque scene. The roads and courtyards in the village are paved with cobbles or bluestones. There are a drum ground and a Lusheng (the reed-pipe wind instrument used by Miao, Yao and Dong nationalities in southwestern China) ground, built in the pattern of ancient bronze drum surface. Twelve short tracks, paved with blue-brown cobbles, stretch to twelve directions, symbolizing the twelve rays of lights. A cobble pattern of galloping horse is inlayed at the end of the drum ground and the Lusheng ground.
Visitors to Langde Shang Village have to drink the "block-the-way" wine (a local custom of welcoming the guests) when they arrive. Twelve tables are placed in the middle of the path from the roadside of the highroad to the gate of the villages. Several full-dressed young people will propose a toast to the guests with two bowls of wine, wishing them happy and healthy. At the last table to the village, people will use a big cow horn to hold the wine and propose toast to the guests. So the guests should drink a lot before they enter the village. However, those who are not good at drinking don't have to worry. If they don't want to drink, they can put their hands at the back, bend forward a little and touch the cup with their lip, and say " dousemo" (Miao language, meaning "thank you"). Then they can pass the table. The villagers are very hospitable, but they will never make the guests drink if they can't.
The welcoming ceremony continues when the villagers set off firecrackers, play Mangtong (a kind of local musical instrument), and sing song of toasting the guests. Then the villagers will dress up and lead the guests to the Lusheng ground. The young villagers will have the traditional dances, Lusheng dance, wooden stool dance, wood drum dance, bronze drum dance, and so on. Finally, all the villagers will go the ground and form several circles and dance. They will also invite the guests to join them. After the dancing ceremony, guests can go to the villagers' home to observe the creaking spinning wheels and the weaving machine and enjoy the quiet village life.

What a week. I had no inspiration for 52 weeks, and the school week was pretty...unexpected. So I did other things, which included giving Grace and her bud Butterball a good bath & brushing. Due to the cold weather, I had put it off for way too long...so when the temp climbed to the 60s today that was the first thing I did. And with all of the fur I pulled out, you could have knitted a hat....nasty.
School work is getting heavy once again. And my sleep patterns are far from normal/healthy at the moment, lol. Summer can't come fast enough...but other than that, this was a good week.
As for the photo...it was taken while out on the property. I took away the background colors, added some texture and tinting, and wah-lah, some sort of photo! haha.

But we didn't have a kid. I imagine that changes things a bit but think it has to put a big strain on such a young relationship! Not saying people can't and don't do it.. But I'm sure it's hard

They're still together now and have a little boy addys age too (that was planned) but the fact they got married because of their daughter has caused a lot of issues.. And they both say they wouldn't be together if they hasn't had a baby.. And I don't feel like that can be healthy.

Henry was born on February 3, 2002. He was about 3 weeks early and seemingly healthy. At approximately 4 months of age, Henry had a prolonged seizure, which lasted about 15 minutes. Over the period of a week, Henry had an MRI, 2 EEGs, a spinal tap, about 15 blood tests and a myriad of other tests to try and narrow down the cause of the seizure. It was a Neurologist at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) who identified the cause as Menkes Disease, a diagnosis that was confirmed through the Genetics Department at CHOP.
On 16-August 2006 Henry lost his 4-1/2 year struggle with Menkes. He will live on in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of meeting him and most importantly he will forever be a major part of the lives of the Umsted's- Anna and Chip as well as his seven brothers and sisters - Parker, Brennan, Katherine, Connor, Lenora, William and Emeline.

A milestone I never wanted to cast... 200 pounds. I had been slowly creeping up there since I stopped going to gym and working more at a burger joint. Yeah, the recipe for success. I know.
I have always known there was a danger of me making a quick weight gain as my teenaged metabolism degenerated into my early adulthood one. I combated this by working out at the gym three times a week once I turned 18. We ate healthy at home and as long as I lived there, I could cheap (free) healthy food. As the troubles between my mom and dad arose and when I took my job at In-n-Out Burger, I began eating worse because I had the free free burgers at work and dinner at home became a rare occasion. Then I stopped going to the gym because I was always tired--a side effect of the emotional stress of my parents separation.
Even though the worst of the emotional distress is passed and peace is beginning to return to my life, I haven't gotten back into the habits I had that would keep me healthy. 18 months ago I had a BMI of 11% and weighed 175, now I weigh 200, feel like crap, and am on the path I don't want to go. Time to shape up.
Today's photo was inspired both by the Flickr Group Roulette challenge and the realization I had hit 200 pounds. I think today will also mark the beginning of the end of my weight gain. I will use today as the first day of my flickr accountability diet, and I will show you guys my efforts to fix these wrongs. With a little work I should return to my healthy state and stay there forever. Wish me luck!

“The very different outcomes my family experienced clearly show why newborn screening for SCID is so important.”
My nephew, Will, seemed so healthy at birth, and my sister and brother-in-law were so excited to be starting their family. When Will was around 3 months of age, he began to develop different infections, and my sister was always taking him to the pediatrician. At one point she asked the doctor if there was something wrong with Will because he always seemed to be sick. The doctor assured her there was nothing wrong with Will and said he was just developing “normal” childhood infections. Four days before Christmas in 1994, when Will was 13 months old, he came down with the chicken pox and became very ill. Again, my sister’s pediatrician said not to worry and that he had seen worse cases of chicken pox. On Christmas morning, my sister checked on Will and found that he had died in his sleep. Our family was devastated by his death. Through autopsy reports, we learned that Will was born with a disease called severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID), which meant he was born without a working immune system.
When I became pregnant in 2000, I learned I was a carrier for SCID and had passed this disease on to my unborn son. We were so worried but hopeful, because we knew that newborns diagnosed with SCID who undergo a bone marrow transplant shortly after birth have a 95% cure rate. My son, John, was tested for SCID right after birth through a simple blood test. John received his bone marrow transplant and three months later, had a normally functioning immune system. He is now a very healthy, happy 11 year-old boy.
The very different outcomes my family experienced clearly show why newborn screening for SCID is so important. John had a chance at life because we knew to look for SCID. SCID is a universally fatal disease if left untreated. For families without a family health history of SCID, screening at birth is needed, before babies are exposed to life-threatening infections.

I tried to eat something healthy at lunch today by going to Midtown Deli and getting a turkey wrap, with Swiss cheese, American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, regular mustard, and extra pickles. I don't normally eat cupcakes and pastries, but I was in the rare mood to try out one of the cupcakes that was in the lunchroom with the strawberries. Lunch was good, and the cupcake was okay.

Lake Elsinore, originally named Laguna Grande by the Spanish explorers, renamed for the town Lake Elsinore, California established on its northeastern shore April 9, 1888. Lake Elsinore is the largest natural freshwater lake in Southern California and is situated at the lowest point within the San Jacinto River watershed of 750 square miles (1,900 km2) at the terminus of the San Jacinto River.
Lake levels are healthy at 1,244 feet (379 m) (above sea level) with a volume of 30,000 acre·ft (37,000,000 m3) that often fluctuate, although much has been done recently to prevent the lake from drying up, flooding, or becoming stagnant.
At 1,255 feet (383 m), the lake will spill into the outflow channel on its northeastern shore, known properly as Temescal Wash, flowing northwest through Temescal Canyon feeding Aberhill Creek which joins Temescal Creek, which in turn dumps into the Santa Ana River just northwest of Corona. Lake Elsinore is the largest sag pond in the Elsinore Fault Zone.

Kid-style...I've made these granola bars a few times and had the brilliant idea to use my 4 oz Mason jars so they're in kid-friendly helping sizes. Once they're cooled I put one of the screw on plastic storage lids on top and put them in the pantry. This has been a great way to give the kids a snack that's (for the most part) healthy, at their level and the right size for their little tummies. I'm planning on using some of the jars for things like muffins (instead of using muffin papers) and other baked goods. I also use them to store kid-friendly sized snacks in the fridge like coin shaped carrots, homemade yogurt, etc.
Recipe -
Ingredients
4 cups whole oats
3/4 cup peanut butter - melted
1 cup chocolate chips (I use Enjoy Life brand)
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup coconut oil - melted if it's in its solid state
Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. It is easiest to do this with your hands. Take a handful of mixture, probably about a half cup worth, roll it into a ball, stuff down inside jars and flatten the tops with your fingertips, pressing the mixture into the sides (you may want to oil the jars but it seems to work fine without oiling). Bake at 325-350 for 20 minutes or until just set. Cool on a cloth and then place lids on top.
A daily dose of vitamins to keep me healthy, at least I think so. Interesting light effects from the oil filled soft gels. (365 set)

Let’s not overlook the fix and flip opportunity afforded by urban real estate investments. Okay, let’s face it. Today’s real estate market could be better….a lot better…but just because the over-all market doesn’t seem to be all that healthy at the moment that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some great fix and flip opportunities out there and particularly in the urban areas. The trick to making a profit on an urban property is to sell with incentives included and, if it is a rental property, with a tenant already in residence.
Don’t forget about the good old government of the United States of America. The government funds projects to rehab entire neighborhoods in urban areas and they do soon a regular basis. The local government gets funding and usually offers attractive incentives to developers and home owners investing in these urban neighborhoods.
