I was hoping to see upwards of a dozen lilies in 3 different colors in the pond at the Eastman House garden.

Alas! There were only 2 very, very small (about 2 inches across) white ones. As you can see, the water doesn't look healthy at all.

Liberia is preparing to reopen schools nationwide, as cases of Ebola continue to decline and the country is recovering. The Ministry of Education, supported by the United Nations Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER), UNICEF, and other partners, is aiming to resume classes in the coming weeks – four months after the start of the school year was indefinitely postponed due to the Ebola outbreak.

A critical part of the preparation is making sure schools have the necessary supplies to keep students safe and healthy. At a warehouse outside of Monrovia, UNICEF is assembling Infection, Prevention, and Control (IPC) kits that will be distributed to every school in the country. These kits contain buckets for hand washing stations, chlorine, soap, protection gear like gloves and rubber boots, and cleaning supplies like clothes and brooms.

UNMEER has conducted facility inspections to help determine the readiness of schools to provide a safe environment. In addition, UNMEER is using MI-8 helicopters and ground transportation vehicles to help UNICEF and partners distribute the IPC kits.

My grandfather believed in a daily glass of red wine. He lived well into old age, so he may have been on to something. On the other hand, my father rarely drinks wine and he's strong and healthy at 84, so maybe they've just got good genes.

I took this in 1974 with my first SLR, a Pentax Spotmatic F. I didn't have any affection for that camera, and about a year later I got an Olympus OM-1.

...not surprised this is a dollar general exclusive, considering there's nothing healthy at dollar general.

Massive Health Builds an App for Healthy Eating; Think Foodspotting Meets FitnessKeeper

www.xconomy.com/san-francisco/2011/11/02/massive-health-b...

Do phones, food, photos, and fitness mix? Massive Health is hoping they do. The San Francisco mobile health startup, which debuted last spring with $2.25 million in seed fundingfrom Felicis Ventures, Greylock, Andreessen Horowitz, Charles River Ventures, and Mohr Davidow Ventures, has come out with its first consumer app. It’s called The Eatery, and it’s designed to get iPhone owners to think more carefully about how they stuff their faces.

Introduced yesterday, The Eatery invites you to use your iPhone’s camera to take a picture of your meal—before you eat it, ideally—and then to rate it from “Fat” to “Fit” on an 11-star scale. The app will track your entries, and on a daily and weekly basis it will send you summaries intended to help you discover patterns and make healthier eating choices. There’s also a social element: you can connect with Facebook friends who also use The Eatery, and they’ll rate your meal photos too, providing a sort of reality check on your own ratings.

It’s all wrapped up inside a user interface that’s on the far slick-and-elegant end of the design spectrum. Noticeably absent: any way of quantifying what you’re eating, in terms of ounces, calories, or fat or carbohydrate content. “There are a bunch of apps in the App Store that are more about recording what you ate rather than helping you eat better,” says Massive Health CEO Sutha Kamal. “They are asking the wrong question. What you really should care about is how you are eating day to day or month to month.” The idea, Kamal says, is that simply paying more attention to what you’re eating and getting feedback from friends will prompt you to start eating better.

When Massive Health came out of stealth mode back in February, the team of ex-Mozilla, ex-Linden Lab, ex-gaming entrepreneurs declared that they wanted to bring great user-centered interaction design to the healthcare sector. They said they intended to build mobile apps that used crowdsourcing, game mechanics, social networking, and data analytics to help people deal with chronic health conditions.

True to that promise, Kamal says the startup is developing a diabetes app that’s still in alpha testing. But the company decided to bring out The Eatery first, as a way to get something into consumers’ hands faster and start testing its thesis that health apps will have more uptake and impact if they deliver what Kamal calls “delightful experiences.” With some pride, he describes The Eatery as “the most beautiful app in the Health part of the App Store…you don’t feel like there is a lot of work being done on your part, but a huge amount of value is being delivered.”

The startup isn’t planning to make any money on The Eatery, Kamal says. In fact, it’s presenting the app as “Massive Health Experiment 01″ rather than a full-fledged product. “This is a place where we are expecting to learn a lot,” Kamal says. The revenue opportunities will come down the road, when MassiveHealth introduces apps that help employers, insurers, and patients lower healthcare costs, he says.

In a phone chat yesterday with Kamal, I asked where the idea for The Eatery came from, how he thinks it will fit with existing social and mobile usage patterns, and where MassiveHealth is going from here. A summary of our conversation follows.

Xconomy: What’s the big idea behind The Eatery?

Sutha Kamal: If you step back and think about Massive Health as a macro thing, what we’re trying to do is build a lot of enduring value around helping people change their lives and stay healthy. We have another alpha [product] going in the diabetes space, and we have concluded that if you are thinking about getting and staying healthy, you care about four things: diet, exercise, medication adherence, and lastly the idiosyncracies of your condition—whether it’s testing your glucose level more consistently if you’re diabetic or watching your blood pressure if you have hypertension. But we really wanted to learn faster and ship software to a broader set of people. We were getting requests like, ‘Hey, I’m not diabetic but can I go play with your software?’

Eating is probably the most important of the four axes when it comes to getting and staying healthy. We asked, is there anything good in the eating world to help you, and the conclusion was there is not. There are a bunch of apps in the App Store that are more about recording what you ate rather than helping you eat better. They are asking the wrong question. You might say ‘I’m having a burrito’ but you don’t have good data on what’s in it. Or it might be brilliant at taking a picture of a barcode, but here’s a pro tip: if you are trying to eat better, don’t eat stuff with bar codes. If what I really care about is helping people eat better over a prolonged period, I don’t necessarily care about any specific meal. What I really care about is how you are eating day to day and month to month.

The Eatery represents a bunch of hypotheses we have about making delightful experiences. I can get up in the morning and grab my BlackBerry or iPhone and it makes me smile. I can get out of the shower and put on my beautiful watch. I can go into my garage and get in my car and it makes a rumbling growl that gives me a moment of delight. There is nothing in health that does that. So let’s rethink how we do food tracking. Let’s build something where all you have to do is pull your phone out of your pocket, take a picture, and say how healthy it is. And we give you access to the people you care about, so that your friends can rate your meals and you can see what they’re eating. The thesis is that you could build something really delightful that tightens the feedback loops that we talk about so often. We’re going to test a bunch of these hypotheses really quickly so that we can learn from people without having to wait until we have the diabetes app perfect.

X: You’re portraying The Eatery as an experiment. Does that mean you might turn it off at some point?

SK: From the gist of the conversation we have seen already, we know we are not going to turn it off. Are we going to get some of the interactions wrong? Absolutely. But this is a place where we are expecting to learn a lot. There are some ideas that we think are going to be awesome, and some ideas that we will be surprised by.

X: You guys do talk a lot about “tight feedback loops.” What is the loop that you’re trying to reinforce in this case?

SK: When you start to write things down, your awareness increases dramatically. When you have an app like this, which makes [meal tracking] even simpler than writing things down, it makes awareness easier, and it also helps you discover patterns and trends that you wouldn’t have discovered. That’s fundamentally something you didn’t have an app for before. You might get an insight as specific as, whenever you eat lunch later in the day, you tend to eat unhealthier food

X: Are users supposed to discover those patterns for themselves in the summaries, or are you doing some additional analysis for them?

SK: Bits of both. We do these rollups at the end of your first day, your first week, where we gather the information into this beautiful, fancy experience where it says, “Here is what happened this week.” There are also times when we want to go a step further and give more analysis behind it. People may be saying good things about what you have eaten, or they may show you that you were a little weaker this week.

X: With your rating system, you’re relying on people to guess at how healthy their own meals or other people’s meals are. That seems pretty unscientific. Say there’s someone who thinks microwave popcorn is actually a healthy snack, when it’s usually covered with butter and salt. How would you correct for that?

SK: There are two goals for us. One is that we want people’s ratings to be trending upward [meaning they're eating more healthily]. At the same time we want them to be getting better [at accurately rating their food]. There will be people who have ratings all over the place, but the magic behind the scenes will be figuring out what the ratings ought to be and gently nudging them toward that. For example, we joke around the office about the amount of Red Bull and caffeine I consume from week to week. It’s a non-trivial amount. I’m like, “This is healthy, it’s just caffeine” and everyone at the office has a much different view. So I get this weekly analysis that says, “Here are your worst meals.” You may believe that Red Bull is good for you, but maybe you’re not right.

X: In the Twitter world, tweeting about what you’re having for breakfast is almost the cliché, textbook definition of oversharing. What makes you think that people want to share pictures of every meal they eat?

SK: When you use the Twitter example, you are talking about a wide-open platform where I can say anything I want, profound or inane, and why would you care about my inane remarks? But if I am trying to eat healthier and I want my friends to help me—if I am 25 pounds overweight and I say, “Wade, I would love it if you could keep me honest and you have full rights to heckle me if I don’t eat better and support me if I do”—you will probably want to help. The funny thing is, we see people chiding one another about what they are eating even on the first day that the app is out.

X: There are other apps like Foodspotting that prompt people to photograph their food. Do you think that’s a natural thing to do? Are people getting used to the idea of pulling out their phones and taking a picture of every meal before they eat?

SK: If you look at normal people, they don’t do that—if they’re at dinner at a nice restaurant with a beautiful meal they won’t pull out a phone and take a picture. I think people are just fine not using any apps, so if the question is whether there is contention for that space, I don’t think so. But the other question you raise that’s interesting is, is there a social barrier to pulling out your phone at a meal? One of the things we’re proud of is that our app launches even faster than the native camera app in the iPhone. We’re going to get you right in there, take a picture, have it rated, and get the phone back in your pocket in five seconds. We set that target because we realized that unless it’s really fast it’s going to be kind of awkward.

X: Will you look for ways to make money on The Eatery, and if not, where do the revenue opportunities lie for Massive Health?

SK: We are not looking to monetize “Experiment 01.” It’s definitely just getting started, and some crazy stuff is going to drop in the next few weeks that we are really excited about. Next after that, we are building some great software for people with diabetes, and we are going to ship some other experiments, and we are going to build some great software across a range of cases.

In terms of the revenue model for the company, right now we think there are a couple of interesting things happening. We think that among insurers and employers and national healthcare systems and all of the folks who have ended up having to foot the bill for healthcare there is a lot of interest in a system that can effectively reduce those costs. Not a week goes by that we don’t have a phone call from someone in pharma or insurance who wants to talk to us. Even more interestingly, people are being incentivized in their own wallets to take care of their own health as well. In the next three to five years, I think there is going to be a really interesting play in the consumer space, about products that are helpful and meaningful and delightful. We think the hard part isn’t revenue, the hard part is really building those

It kept you healthy, at this time there were very few kids that were fat due to a poor diet.

Taking Healthy Strides With Focus on Fitness and Fun

Residents, City Council Members, police officers, firefighters and local officials united Tuesday night to promote public safety and fitness during National Night Out.

Hundreds of people gathered with their neighbors to host block parties, and this year, as the City participates in a statewide health initiative-the Healthy at H-E-B Community Challenge-many communities incorporated a healthy aspect in their events.

Citizens mixed and mingled during their crime prevention gatherings and many shared healthy snacks including Subway sandwiches and fruit and vegetable trays. Police officers, firefighters and City Council Members visited block parties, reminding homeowners of the importance of getting to know their neighbors and making sure their homes are safe.

National Night Out correlated perfectly with the healthy challenge, which encourages health and fitness in all aspects of life, and Missouri City continues to be a strong contender a month into the competition.

The "Show Me City" is currently in second place in its category (cities with populations ranging from 0-100,000) in the Healthy at H-E-B Community Challenge. For the past few weeks, the Show Me City has trailed the City of Pflugerville, however; each has owned the No. 1 spot for short intervals.

To engage citizens, Missouri City has some fun and exciting events planned as part of its participation. All residents are encouraged to take part in: the First Annual Fire & Rescue Services Open House on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Fire Station 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the Missouri City Police Officers Association's Kids' 5K Zombie Dash on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Missouri City Police Department starting at 7 a.m.; and Tricks & Treats in the Park, also on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Buffalo Run Park from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to visit the Challenge website to sign up and share their healthy activities, thereby building our community's overall score. An email address is the only requirement to sign up. Click on the following link to see a video that details how to register: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XO7lQfD3IlA.

Missouri City kicked off its participation in the program on Saturday, Sept. 15, with a Health Fair and Tennis Play Day that attracted about 200 people of all ages to its new Recreation and Tennis Center. City officials were also on hand to support the initiative: Mayor Allen Owen, Mayor Pro Tem Jerry Wyatt and Council Members Danny Nguyen and Floyd Emery visited with the guests.

Visitors were treated to cooking demonstrations, a farmers market, fitness classes, XBOX 360 Fitness, massages and spinal checks. H-E-B Sienna's pharmacy also gave flu shots. Among the other vendors were H-E-B Sienna Market, Houston Community College-Missouri City Campus, and Sienna Modern Dentistry.

"With this event, Missouri City and its partners took a giant step in encouraging citizens to be active and to live a healthy lifestyle," Director of Parks & Recreation Larry Foos said.

To follow the City's progress in the Challenge, visit the City website: www.missouricitytx.gov, join the Twitter conversation #ItsTimeMCTX and watch Missouri City Television (Ch. 16 on Comcast and Ch. 99 on AT&T U-verse).

Some visitors enjoyed products at a farmers market, and others spent time with

My personal comment: over commercialized, to be avoided if you don't want to be trapped amid busloads of very loud mostly Chinese tourists with big zoom lenses, smartphones and tablets. If you like fake and dress up parties, this is the place to be.

Surrounded by green mountains, Langde Shang Village is situated beside a crystal stream. Several roofed wooden bridges, called "Wind and rain" bridges by the locals, stretches over the stream. Several stone grain mills and mill wheels have been built on both sides of the stream. Ducks can be seen here and there, flapping the wings happily in the water. On the waist of the slope facing the village is a 150-meter-long racecourse and a flat ground, whose area is about 8 mu (mu is a traditional unit of area, equaling to 0.0667 hectare or 1/6 acre). On March 5th of the lunar calendar every year, thousands of young Miao people from the region where the four counties, Leishan, Kaili, Majiang, and Danzhai, have a common boundary, come to the place. They climb the mountains, sing musical dialogues in antiphonal styles, and race horses.

The Langde Shang Village is located at the foot of a mountain. There are five “flower roads” leading to the village. A wood gatehouse, called the "village gate", is built at the eastern, western and northern entrances of the village. Row upon row of wood houses (those propped up by wooden supports with ladders leading up) makes a picturesque scene. The roads and courtyards in the village are paved with cobbles or bluestones. There are a drum ground and a Lusheng (the reed-pipe wind instrument used by Miao, Yao and Dong nationalities in southwestern China) ground, built in the pattern of ancient bronze drum surface. Twelve short tracks, paved with blue-brown cobbles, stretch to twelve directions, symbolizing the twelve rays of lights. A cobble pattern of galloping horse is inlayed at the end of the drum ground and the Lusheng ground.

Visitors to Langde Shang Village have to drink the "block-the-way" wine (a local custom of welcoming the guests) when they arrive. Twelve tables are placed in the middle of the path from the roadside of the highroad to the gate of the villages. Several full-dressed young people will propose a toast to the guests with two bowls of wine, wishing them happy and healthy. At the last table to the village, people will use a big cow horn to hold the wine and propose toast to the guests. So the guests should drink a lot before they enter the village. However, those who are not good at drinking don't have to worry. If they don't want to drink, they can put their hands at the back, bend forward a little and touch the cup with their lip, and say " dousemo" (Miao language, meaning "thank you"). Then they can pass the table. The villagers are very hospitable, but they will never make the guests drink if they can't.

The welcoming ceremony continues when the villagers set off firecrackers, play Mangtong (a kind of local musical instrument), and sing song of toasting the guests. Then the villagers will dress up and lead the guests to the Lusheng ground. The young villagers will have the traditional dances, Lusheng dance, wooden stool dance, wood drum dance, bronze drum dance, and so on. Finally, all the villagers will go the ground and form several circles and dance. They will also invite the guests to join them. After the dancing ceremony, guests can go to the villagers' home to observe the creaking spinning wheels and the weaving machine and enjoy the quiet village life.

Giant old-growth hemlock above Jeans Run, Carbon County, within State Game Land 141.

According to Old-Growth in the East: a Survey, by Mary Byrd Davis (published in 1993; revised in 2003 and available online), the gorge contains an estimated 140 acres of old-growth timber. Whether that estimate remains accurate today is unclear.

The hemlocks are, surprisingly, all healthy—at least in the upper third of the gorge, where I did most of my exploring. I saw no sign of the hemlock woolly adelgid, an exotic insect pest that has damaged or killed the hemlocks elsewhere in the area.

2009 - Day 47

Nikon D3 / Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 - 1/60 * f/1.4 * ISO 100 * @50mm - LARGE

I think its funny how I named this picture without looking at it and yet at the same time it works almost perfectly if you attribute the different parts of the title to the people in the picture. I mean honestly who wouldn't look like Izzy, the girl on the left, after hearing about Zombie Porn? And who would look anyway other than the way Ginny does after a textbook example of the shitty weekend? That's just the way that I see it though. For all I know I could be dead wrong.

Let it be known though that I was not the one watching Zombie Porn. From what I understand Izzy's boyfriend JP was watching a fairly provocative movie involving nude zombies. Really though the most notable thing to come from this is the fact that we finally found boobs that JP is repulsed by. What's funny is the fact that I haven't met JP. I've heard more stories about him than I think he would appreciate and I've overheard conversations with him on skype, but I've never actually met him. From what I know about him though I think we'd get along reasonably well though.

Anyway, to get to what I actually did today.

This morning really pissed me off. I slept through my 9am for some unknown reason. My alarm was defiantly set the night before, along with my phones alarm and at 10:21am I woke up without hearing either of them.

I've really got to start sleeping. The hours that I'm keeping are not healthy at all. I guess I just have to force myself to go to bed by 2 in the morning because otherwise there's no way that I'm going to do well this semester. If I didn't actually have class I think I'd just become nocturnal, It would be much easier on me. I can't do that though so I've got to do something.

Too bad the pills from that American Dad episode, the ones that make it so you don't need sleep, don't actually exist. It would really be nice.

Anyway though once I realized that I'd missed class, and after the requisite string of profanities, I jumped up, got a shower and made it to Professor George's office hours. She was incredibly understanding though so I don't think that I have anything to worry about. I just can't do it again otherwise I might beat my own head in. Flat out skipping a class, while I would feel guilty about doing it, doesn't really piss me off because at least I had the intention of not going to class. With this though I actually had every intention of going to class, but I didn't wake up with my alarm.

I feel better about the whole situation though. I'm just going to have to get a new alarm.

March came in like a lion—four lions, to be exact— 9-year-old African lion Shera gave birth to a litter at the Great Cats exhibit at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. Their delivery March 2 spanned a seven-hour period, from 8:27 a.m. to 3:17 p.m. These cubs are the second litter for Shera and the fifth for 8-year-old father, Luke. Recently, Luke also sired 10-year-old Nababiep’s two female cubs born Jan. 24.

Animal care staff watched Shera give birth via a closed-circuit webcam and continue to monitor the family. The first cub was born at 8:27 a.m. and appeared active and healthy. At 9:03 a.m., Shera delivered her second mobile cub. The third cub was born at 11:09 a.m. and the fourth at 3:17 p.m. The Zoo’s animal care team has been closely observing the family throughout Sunday and Monday’s snowstorm. All four cubs appear to be nursing, moving and vocalizing well.

“Shera successfully raised her previous litter of four in 2010, so we’re cautiously optimistic that these cubs will thrive,” said Kristen Clark, and animal keeper at the Great Cats exhibit. “Like any new mom, she needs some peace and quiet to bond with her cubs, so we’re giving her the solitude she needs. From what we’ve observed on the cam, her behaviors are right on point, and there’s no need for us to intervene.”

The National Zoo participates in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ African Lion Species Survival Plan, a program that matches individual animals across the country for breeding in order to maintain a healthy, genetically diverse and self-sustaining population. The birth of these cubs marks the next step in building a pride at the Zoo. The pride social structure makes lions unique among the great cats, many of which are solitary animals. African lion populations in the wild have dwindled by 30 percent during the past 20 years as a result of poaching, disease and habitat loss. They are considered a vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

“At this time, both mothers have a den space to bond with their cubs that is separated from each other and Luke,” said Rebecca Stites, animal keeper. “In the wild, a lion may take up to six weeks to introduce her cubs to the rest of the pride, so we are emulating that process. Once Shera’s behavior indicates that she’s comfortable with the cubs meeting their half-siblings, aunt and dad, we’ll begin introductions. Our aim is to bring all nine lions together.”

Shera’s cubs will not be on exhibit until early summer, which will give the Zoo’s animal keepers and veterinary team time to examine them. Nababiep and her cubs will also remain indoors until late spring but can be viewed via the Lion Cub Cam on the Zoo’s website. National Zoo visitors can see another set of cubs—7-month-old Sumatran tigers Bandar and Sukacita—on exhibit every day weather permitting.

To follow the Zoo’s progress in caring for the cubs, check for news on the Zoo’s Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

It's January so if you're anything like me you've decided its time to eat healthy and save some money. One of the easiest ways to do both at once is to bring a packed lunch to work. Not all offices have microwaves (or at least not microwaves you'd actually want to use) so the lunch possibilities are often limited to things that can be eaten cold, like salads and sandwiches. I must admit I get a bit bored with both so I came up with a recipe that's a bit different, a little bit spicy and remains healthy at the same time. This Thai Curried Chicken Salad can be eaten either as a sandwich filling or on top of a salad.

Thai Curried Chicken Salad

3 cooked chicken breast (you can use left overs, store bought or just boil the chicken breasts until they are cooked through)

5 spring onions finely diced

1 tsp Thai red curry paste

3-4 heaping Tablespoons of thick set (or Greek) plain yogurt

1/2 red pepper finely diced

Juice of 1 lime

7 sprigs of coriander finely chopped

Chop the chicken into small bite sized pieces and mix with all other ingredients. For best taste let sit a few hours or overnight before serving.

Serves 4

Prep Time: 10 minutes

I wanna thank MIO CADE for inviting us to Smokey Mountain. It is really an eye opener.

Just imagine children are born in this area. The first air they breathe is the smell of garbage and charcoal. Smokey Mountain is literally filled with pile of garbage, thus the word "Mountain". It has been said that at times it catches on fire due to high temperature, thus the word "Smokey".

Many kids work to contribute income for their family. It has been like this for more than 40years. Till now our government is not making any major changes.

---------------------------------

They spend most of the time out in the sun plus the smell of garbage. Its just not healthy at all.

WAFFLES!!!!!

And healthier at that :D Made them with the bisquick heart healthy mix, and used just egg whites, almond milk, and applesauce instead of vegetable oil. My waffle iron makes belgian waffles, so half a waffle is around 250 calories, and thats a LOT of waffle :) sooo yummy!!

Yes, biscuit, not cookie :)

I thought I'd do a different take on this, as I didn't have any biscuits in the house, and we're trying to eat healthy at the moment, so I didn't want to make any and have the temptation around.

This is a deconstructed recipe photo for Anzac biscuits. You DO NOT call these Anzac cookies. You have been warned. :P

This created such a mess on my kitchen bench. Yes, I poured golden syrup on the bench just for a photo.

Oh, and the ingredients are rolled oats, flour, butter, coconut, golden syrup, bi-carb soda & brown sugar, if anyone was wondering. :)

Herbal Supplements To Strengthen Bones

* Woodhouse Junction

Well, if that was an exhaust I was driving behind on a road, I would think some serious engine work needed doing on the car.. black, blur or grey smoke out of a car's diesel engine exhaust means 3 completely different things. Here its blue/black and doesn't look healthy at all although the loco seems to be performing well on this 2nd day of a round-trip excursion between Leicester and Derby RTC via the 'Old Road' in part and via GC metals as seen here at Woodhouse Junction. Coming up off the 'Old Road' and taking the turn-off at Beighton Junction around the corner in the background, class 47, 47815, ex-D1748, 'Lost Boys 68-88', and once sporting the 'Thank You NHS' banner, now removed by the looks of things, heads along the wet rails towards Woodhouse Station on the Rail Operations Group, Empty Coaching Stock, here blue barrier coaches, move, the 5Z57 from Leicester L.I.P. and back along the Midland Main Line to Derby R.T.C.(Network Rail), class 37, 37510, ex-D7812, 'Orion', is on the back. Doesn't look like the sidings roads on the right, with rusty tops, though here glistening in the wet conditions, have been used in any serious way now for a good long while... still at least they are still in-situ.

This bored tiger broke out into a yawn. Being one of the top attractions of Baluarte Singson, a recreational park in Vigan, the tiger is used to the attention lavished on him. He stays in a rather expansive enclosure that has access to several wells like the one here so he gets a lot of exercise. The more to keep those heavy legs hale and healthy.
