Summer sunrises in Arizona can be breathtaking when the exuberant cloud formations that accompany the monsoon season sweep in. It's funny, I grew up far away from the desert and my mind's eye had envisioned it as monochrome and sun-bleached of color. This 7 stop HDR capture of the sunrise near the entrance of Arizona's Lost Dutchman State Park proved that preconception to be blatantly incorrect!

The background is a HDR capture of the station in Zoetermeer. Transformed it to black and white cause the colours of this station are really ugly :). The light and the people are put in later.

Strobist info (only the person in the front, selfportrait ;)): bare YN560 1/4 power left from camera, a bit behind me. And one YN560 1/2 power through umbrella at the right of the camera, also just behind me. The front part is slightly filled by available daylight.

Another hand-held HDR capture using 5 bracketed photos. While in HDR Efex Pro, I decided to try out more than just a typical filter. The Deep HDR Efex Pro filter and the effect reminded me of a painting. With the blue skies and clouds above, it was as if a person could just take in the day...and the view!
