These actually hold the flowers of the Hazelnut Tree.

Variation on today's Macro Mondays theme, "fill the frame with food." I decided that this just wasn't close enough to meet the spirit of the challenge. HMM

I hope the husk / involucral leaf ("Hüllblatt" in German) of the hazelnut is okay for today's theme. If not, please drop me a note and I'll add something else from yesterday's walk.

Food the squirrel will have away once they are big enough , they are growing on the Contorted Hazel tree in the garden . For a number of years now the squirrel can be seen in the tree as leaves and branches start to shake and then a head will pop out and have a quick munch or just check the surroundings as can be seen from a few years back in the first comment box !!
