At the age of eight in the children's home I found a new adult to do battle with over - me and a sou'wester. The solution by the Sister was to take away my ordinary raincoat and sou'wester, and replace it with a rain coat in the girl's design with a hood attached.
Her thoughts were that I would think of it as a punishment. I was quite happy, my neck no longer got soaked, and adults don't take much notice of girls as they are seldom up to mischief, at a distance my tall thin looks meant I passed for a girl, tall shiny wellingtons in the girls' fashion also helped.
I am living in the very town that the blob was made in. I hated that movie as a kid and besides the exorcist it was the scariest thing. They played this movie every January. A large jelly like substance coming to eat people and the terror in the theater goers faces as they left running and screaming was just plain horrific.
January is a month that follows the craziness of the holidays and while the quiet is wonderful, its still so cold.

Then there is the wait for the next holiday. I’m not talking Valentine’s day. Nope. It has to do with a rodent. This rodent comes out of his den or hole and decides whether or not we will have six more consecutive weeks of winter all based upon seeing his shadow or not.
If I could write a next chapter about how I hate the month of January perhaps moving the groundhog back a week and having the blob eat him then there would be no six more weeks of winter after all.
I could do this or just move to Florida and quit complaining.

Hate gets home lucky to still be alive.
He screams o'er the sidewalk and into the drive.
The clock in the kitchen says 2:55,
And the clock in the kitchen is slow.
Love has been waiting, patient and kind.
Just wanting a phone call or some kind of sign,
That the one that she cares for, who's out of his mind,
Will make it back safe to her arms.
Hate stumbles forward and leans in the door.
Weary head hung, eyes to the floor.

I should not have been gone for so long.

DUP Leader & First Minister of Northern Ireland Peter Robinson joins guests at the launch of "Unite Against Hate" at Stormont.
Representatives from gaelic games, football and ice hockey were at the event to promote the efforts to eradicate sectarianism, racism and other forms of intolerance from the terraces.
Addressing the well-attended event in the Long Gallery, Mr Robinson said: "The Unite Against Hate campaign promises to give a voice to the often silent majority and enable them to express their opposition to hate and intolerance in our communities and to act on that.
"We want to spell out our clear condemnation of all hate crime attacks and abuse. Hate crime is totally unacceptable and has no place in our society."

Not a good time to be in Chengyang in April or May. Always raining. May is a bit better as the rice fields are green. In April. they're just starting to plant the rice.
