Near Spring time last year in my woods, a log fell in a small ditch and water filled in over it, the froze in the winter. Spring time, I must venture a vague guess, caused the moss seeds (?) near the surface on the iced-in tree seem to have started growing UNDERNEATH the ice!!! Then they kept growing until they poked through the top layer, as seen detailed by auto-macro mode in my photo. I don't know, I just thought this seems an absract phenomena to me.

Today at Peter's Valley Craft Center, there was a large event planned to raise money for the Blacksmithing studio. Although, everyone's attention was stolen by these little snapping turtles hatching from a pile of coal in back of the studio.

This is the one I opened because I figured it was dead starting into hatch day 22. Still kicking at 22 days 3 hours.

This Shag is a bit behind the others - I guess something disastrous must have happened to her first attempt. Anyway, it looked to me like those eggs are just hatching...
