Thomas Bloch played his glass harmonica at Nottingham Contemporary 14th August 2010. T'was pretty damn awesome and here are some photos.
I saw this man because he had on purple sneakers. He was playing the harmonica and I asked him how long he had been playing and when he started talking, I snapped this picture. He was a good sport.
24th October 2014 at the Roundhouse, London N1.
Country: United States. Style: Americana / Traditional American Folk (Old Time) / Blues.
Lineup: Ketch [Jay Ketcham Miller] Secor (v/fiddle/banjo/g/mandolin/harmonica), "Critter" [Chris] Fuqua (banjo/g/diatonic accordion/d/v), Chance McCoy (g/fiddle/banjo), Cory Younts (mandolin/d/keyboard/harmonica/v), Gill Landry (resonator g/pedal steel g/g/banjo/v), Kevin Hayes (guitjo/v), Morgan Jahnig (b).
The band was formed in 1998 and busked across the United States, gathering new members along the way. Since I saw them in 2010 they have taken a hiatus, lost Willie Watson to a solo career, had founding member Critter Fuqua return, added Chance McCoy, and started to break into the big time (included being inducted into the Grand Ole Opry). I photographed McCoy with Old Sledge in 2011, see: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/sets/72157627883350826/.
In this photo: Towards the end of the evening band members gathered around a microphone for a couple of harmony Gospel songs.

part of Barteks review he sent to Bugs:
" So when Ed was looking at me during the "Footsteps" I felt like he's gonna kill me or something. I thought maybe
it the shirt's fault, you know the image of George Bush, etc. But I was happy that this might bring us some speech about Poland, or maybe "Bu$hleaguer" and I kept singing the "Footsteps".
After the song Ed came closer, pointed on me to his security guy, saying "not him, but him" (this "not-him-guy" must be Tomek ) and then he threw the harmonica into my direction. The security guy picked it up and gave to me. Everybody around congratuleted me, even this pick-freaky guy, and I just couldn't say a word. You know - from one point of view it's just a harmonica, a small instrument, used by a famous guy to performance one song, nothing really worth a deep feeling, but on the other side I've got a rare souvenir I can keep to the end of my live, show my grandchildren and recall the wonderful moments in Portugal. It such a inconspicuous thing.
And it was not randomly throwed into the audience, but the man had chosen me to have this. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! To be honest to this moment I felt the show (despite the better setlist) won't top the first night, but after this... I was in heaven. Few seconds before I couldn't say a word, I couldn't sing anything, but then this happened and I was the one who screamed "Yeah!" part of "Alive" the loudest!
Of course I was smiling through the rest of the show, smiling even more when they played "Smile" Another recall from Katowice, and another harmonica given to the audience."
So beautiful, so sweet.
