The hardest course I took in high school was advanced art history. It was taught by an actual historian who also happened to be one of the nicest people I've ever met. It was far more comprehensive than my brain could handle, but the Baroque period really captured my interest

Caravaggio was easily my favorite painter of this movement and as well as some of the painters who followed in his style. My personal tastes were fairly rigid: realism and the exaggerated contrast between shadows and subject.

When I switched from daylight burst shooting of Scotch to evening portraiture, I worked backwards I assume. I have zero experience with people portraits and have no idea how the process works, but with Scotch, we start in the dark and slowly introduce focused light. I have a few good higher lumen flashlights I use for night photography, but I seem to mostly use the Iphone 6 flashlight when photographing Scotch since it's a nice tone for Scotch's color and allows me to adjust the beam and angles frequently after he's in focus. Also, I really have no interest in blinding my canine companion.

The hardest thing is framing these photos, and this time I did a less than stellar job *cough*. I cropped it here but the nebula is way off to the left of frame out where the optical distortions in the telescope distort the stars. Even so, I still think it came out pretty.

The hardest part about shooting with Anastasia is trying to decide my favorite photos to post. She is absolutely gorgeous with a great personality. 2021 pretty much sucked in general; the best thing about it was I had a chance to shoot with Anastasia about 5 times. We did this shoot at the Scentsy campus in October 2021. Excellent shoot with one of my favorite models!!

Hardest thing about this photo was cropping to get some balance between the left and right, what with the trees, different clouds, and the farmhouse. I don't think there was a perfect crop but this is the one that made me happiest. I do like the way the blue skies flow down toward lower-mid frame with this crop, my intention was to draw the eye to the light from the sun interacting with the clouds. Just of bit of messing with the tone sliders to bring out the details in the middle of the frame, and a little bit of vibrancy and extra yellow-orange to get a nice contrast in the sky in order to bring it closer to how impressive it looked IRL.

“The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them -- words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie too close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while you were saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller but for want of an understanding ear.” - Stephen King

The hardest bit in photographing these ships was to get the one single moment where they were not blocked by a multitude of smaller, lesser, uglier, incredibly annoying boats that were full of annoying people (who were most definitely small and ugly too. But too far away to tell.).

The hardest part still to build, connecting the front and engine. Perhaps it's more clear now where it's based on!

The longest, hardest, and highest climb I've done yet. And, of course, the most memorable! I've realized I'm addicted to climbing. I crave that exhiliration. I constantly think about the unique features of every mountain I've been on. When I'm not out there, I'm almost sad about it. At least I have these shots and prominent memories to constantly think about.

Even in the hardest of times, if you have someone to love you (through good times and bad) then you still have everything.

Keep your head up. Pray. Know that everything will be alright.

This little message is for those of you going through tough times. Illness, job loss, money... all the things that get in the way of us smiling daily. Just wanted to let you know that someone is watching after you, and someone up there really does love you.

The hardest thing to do is watch the one you love, love someone else.

One of the hardest things about photographing the Redwoods is giving a sense of scale to these magnificent trees.

As we were hiking along the Founder's Tree Loop Trial, this couple came up behind us and stopped to allow me to take a photo. I told them that they could go ahead knowing that they would be a great addition to the image. When you compare them to the size of the trees and the root ball, you get a good appreciation of the size of these trees.

Location: Founder's Tree Loop, Rockefeller Forest, Avenue of the Giants.

I had a great time at Pride in '05.

Just wanted to check in real quick & update everyone....my surgery went well; I'm home resting now and taking advantage of being waited on hand & foot :-) Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes & support....I hope to be back to "normal" within a few days & will catch up with everyone then.

Btw, we finally got some snow...a few inches total...very pretty but unfortunately I'm in no shape right now to get out and take any new pics, so this one's from last winter. Happy Friday...have a great weekend!!!!!

The hardest part of UP 8410 East’s journey to North Platte, NE is over. The climb up the Sierra Nevada’s crest is complete, and the remainder of its journey east should be relatively easy. With the Sierra in the rear view mirror, the IOANP rolls off the miles as it approaches Verdi, NV.

Tate Modern, London - Malevich and Mapplethorpe were a must see. Catch them while you can! Surprisingly, Matisse's Cut Outs left me unmoved and this was the exhibition I mainly wanted to see...

I chose the hardest path to be at this place, but I am glad I was there. I think I am falling in love with Newlands Forest. This part of the forest is indigenous and it completely blocks the noise pollution. I love it, the sound of water, the calmness of the trees, the singing birds..... joy forever.

In hardest cold of Winter, with an azure sky and the golden rays of first light a promise here is whispered quietly. Winter, the apparent season of death, of the deep withdrawal of nature into the cocooning earth and deep into the heartwood, is not a permanent state. It is no more final than the explosion of life and outward movement that is the summer. It is part of a larger cycle. Here is the allegory and its promise.

This picture is one of the hardest I've done so far for this contest.

I wanted to go out of the normal things I would usually post, so I decide to take it at night (something I hate to do) and I only used a lantern to lighten the picture. This is how it came out. I did around 100 shots, seriously, 3 different outfits and hairstyles, and when I was done... My bathroom soaked... Anyway, this is the very first time I couldn't pick only one picture myself. So I've decided let you choose guys. These 2 pics were my fave.

I tried to go dramatic with her face. And I think I accomplished it. Hopefully. I think I met every single requirement, and I'm quite happy with that. Regarding to the storyline we had to make up... Well, I decided to make none. I think this picture is narrative enough to let each one of you create your very own story in your heads.

Hope you like it.

The hardest part of visiting this island is after taking bus and undergrounds trains, has to take a taxi from Sai Kung harbour to this island which cost HK$200/- to reach this island - worth all the effort and trouble as this geo island is an amazing place to visit or hike.

The Osprey is one of the hardest common birds for me to get close to. This one was perched on a favorite branch close to my path. As soon as I moved out in the open, it was gone.

Once on the brink of extirpation like all raptors due to DDT, it has made an excellent recovery. They are found all the way up the bays and major rivers, even around my office building. Any day I see an osprey is a day made better. They will migrate south very soon.

This is the hardest piece I’ve ever had to do, tested me in so many ways but what a learning curve, had such a great time painting this apart from the odd question to IZER about working out some of the outline, the only one set back was a visit from the police questioning us about painting and did we have permission! Yeah right! Out to BOSS YES B & ARE!

I try my hardest to keep religion, political views, etc. from my photos and photostream.

I am not an extremist but a everyday average catholic. But when sunsets like these happen, it has to be the work of god. You just don't see a sunset like this everyday.

My night work is amateur at best. SO to save your eyes the horror of it - here's a sunset shot to enjoy instead of the super moon.

THIS IS NOT AN HDR PHOTO!

Okayyyyyyyyy.

The hardest part for me during this trip is incorporating my 365 on my schedule. I don't want to bring my huge camera/tripod everywhere so I have to take photos in my surroundings before I actually start the day (and I'm usually back around 11 pm plus I have to edit it's just so hard).

A friend told me that there's a lot of beautiful scenery to photograph in Taiwan and I should go there. But I told myself that this 365 I don't want to force myself to look into the beautiful places but actually see the "art" among the everyday.

So though it's challenging but I have fallen in love with making art just out of the most ordinary scene using the most mundane items.

12 more days to go and the brain actually came up with an idea for a series again. (Why can't I just let myself take pictures of walls!?)

So here's "voyeur" again (I seem to really love this theme) and let's see how this unfolds.

I'm so tired, but I'm just really really happy you know?

Sending love your way! xx

the hardest of all work: that which brings few rewards. A few pennies perhaps, but no hope, and no way forward. This man makes his living carrying heavy loads in a carrier suspended from his head. His dignity comes from within, and it is his spirit and determination that I tried to record.

I have the hardest time getting bird shots. They see me and fly away immediately. This little guy stuck around for a while, but had his back to me . He finally did turn around and I got 2 shots of him.

Perhaps the hardest damn animal ive ever tried to shoot. They dip the moment you come close. I really want to get more of these because they are stunning little creatures, but also cunning, timid and infuriating. #madagascargolddustdaygecko #golddustdaygecko #madagascargecko #gecko #insitu #phelsuma #HELLsuma #phelsumalaticauda #hawaii #bigisland #herpinghawaii #bigislandherps

The last few days proved to be the hardest, but I did it! Had a lot of fun with this palm leaf book and it's format. And now to give my sketchbook a little attention!

Had this quote in mind while I was shooting. I love Pinterest.... and all the amazing quotes I find haha xD

I went to the river where I spent a lot of time last summer. It brought back a lot of difficult memories... but it's seriously such an amazing place to shoot. I was in heaven with the colors while I was down there.

the hardest thing with Saxon was getting him looking a little more impressed with the idea ;-)

of course, all he wanted was for me to go join him and kick the ball, otherwise what's the point? hahaha

Hardest theme ever! Couldn't for the life of me think of anything I hadn't taken a picture of before. I am sure most here can relate! These beautifully colored markers on my scrapbook table just caught my eye today, so I thought - why not?!
