The Red Lotus

The hardest friendships are those born in the midst of adversity. The Red Lotus clan and the Sakura Clan were once greatest allies that fought countless wars hand in hand in order to fend off other kingdoms from overtaking their territories. Both lands were rich in nature, fresh produce and animal life.

As the legends speak, an enemy clan disguised themselves as the Red Lotus and destroyed one of Sakura's villages. It caused retaliations and despite multiple pleas from the real Red Lotus clan, the Sakura clan closed its gates forever.

The feud continued for thousands of years till only very few knew of the history of both the clans. However, are the Gods and goddesses tired of this long never ending story? Is that the reason why they somehow brought both heirs to the throne to meet?

There is no such thing as a coincidence, they say. She was out on a mission, disguised as a commoner. No one would realize she was actually part of the upper world. He, on the other hand was riding as a soldier, no colors, no announcements of his true linage and no companions. They crossed paths during a rest stop at the same Inn located in between their territories.

There was injustice in view, some travelers were harassing one of the servers. She interjected, demanding it to end, due to her petite frame, she was not taken so seriously. When the brawl started, she was outnumbered despite trained to defend herself. Lucky for her, he walked in just in time and they fought side by side, just like their ancestors before them.

On discussions about each of their missions, they discovered they were of enemy clans. They should have ended each other then but considering they already fought side by side, it was difficult. A secret friendship was in order. They kept in touch through sneaky letters. They met outside their territories. There was so much discussions about the future of their clans. So much hope for a truce and an alliance once again. Only time was in the way.

She packed the best textiles and herbal tea for him to take back to his family. He would always play a tune for her and bring her the red lotuses from his lands as a symbol of hope for the future and betterment of both their people.

P.S. Been ages since our last photo collab! Between work and timezones. I am so happy to have finally gotten the chance! Thank you Ji, for being the best story teller/ photo planner! He will post his version soon! Check out his stream!

This high dynamic range photo taken near Zion's river, the Virgin River, was the hardest to take and later blend. Let me know you thoughts on this photo.

Lenny finally went fishing and it looks like she's having fun right? haha ;P

It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be to take photos of my doll in the lake. I was way too worried about her falling. >.<

“Maybe the hardest season of life teaches you that happiness is small. That it exists in the stillness, that it echoes through you in the most nameless moments. And maybe the hardest seasons of life teach you that those moments aren't small at all. That those fleeting experiences, that those simple encounters, have always been saving you, have always been the things that mattered.”

Rescue a Pet. Please consider this. Peanut was a rescue... he was 16 when we said goodbye. He honestly was my best hello and hardest goodbye. RIP little man ♥♥

We have now embraced another journey with "Sage" she was abused and neglected and she has been embraced by our family and our other four legged rescues...

There are so many Dogs/Cats etc out there that need good loving homes. Since I started this journey of rescuing animals many years ago, I have never EVER had one regret... Except the goodbyes are so damn hard as they are your family. !

Please consider this before you "BUY" a pet.

🎼: Little Boys(Girls) Grow Up and Dogs Grow Old ~

And I thought we would be together

Go on and on just like that, forever

But I was young back then

I guess I just didn't know

Little boys grow up and dogs get old

He was my sidekick through thick and thin

And he'd bark at my fish when I'd reel 'em in

Summers came and went and we grew like weeds

And I don't know if I raised him or he raised me

And I thought we would be together

Go on and on just like that, forever

But I was young back then

How was I supposed to know

Little boys grow up and dogs get old

But the hardest part is getting off the trunk and Mr. Foulque almost falls every time. This is why at the end they abandoned the nest to build another one on water as usual. In fact, baby would never have been able to go down or up the trunk.

One of the hardest things with photographing birds is getting the timing right. A lot of bird shots appear static and generally a bit dull (that includes my own)

I like to sit and wait for the bird to be a little more active, whether that's ducking for food or just having a good flap in the water.

I "only" had my 200mm with me at the time so this is a pretty hefty crop

were the ones that were hardest to get :-)

Seward highway, from Anchorage to Seward, Alaska

the only image taken through the window of a moving bus that i did not delete ;-)

Recognized for its scenic, natural, historical and recreational values, the 127-mile Seward Highway holds triple designation: USDA Forest Service Scenic Byway, Alaska Scenic Byway, and All-American Road.

The first 50 miles of the Seward Highway skirts the base of the Chugach Mountains and the shore of Turnagain Arm, where it's common to see beluga whales, Dall sheep, waterfalls and eagles. The remainder of the drive courses through the mountains, offering dramatic views of wild Alaska.

•• The hardest thing in life is to know which bridge to cross and which to burn.. :- David Russel ••

One of the hardest part of being a nature photographer, is the killing of the young by predation. Last month, I was fortunate to find a musk ox herd with calves. They were a transient herd, one I hadn't seen before. Where I photographed them at was about three miles north of where this bear and calf are. I am sure it is one of the cute calves I photographed the month before. Talking to the Environmentalist that works up in the Arctic, this bear has been following the herd all summer. It is obvious, the bear has been successful in finding food.

Not sure how this musk ox calf died, the Environmental worker said he thought it had a broken leg and could not keep up with the herd.

This is nature, one animals death means life to another, the circle of life.

This photo was taken the day before the one previously posted, in one day, it went from a carcass to just fur and legs.

Today it has been one of the hardest days for me, missing my mother so much :(

www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4XKzkDsb0g

Today I felt so lost

so lonely

I was in pain...

the greatest pain I had felt since you been gone.

and mother, I cried.

I needed someone to be with me

because I felt afraid to be alone with this pain...

I search high and low for an open ear to listen,

and I found that kindness in a stranger.

I talked to her about you,

about how beautiful you were

and how much you loved life

and about how much

I

miss

you...

and mother,

she listened

then she talked to me

and for that moment

I didn't feel alone.

Her kindness touched my heart so deeply

and I thanked her

and walked away...

I went and set under the sakura tree

where I go to every time I am sad

and then I cried mother so hard

so uncontrollably

and I knew I just had to let all the tears out

... all the pain.

I miss you my beautiful virita

I miss you so much.

WInterlings are the hardest to photograph flowers for me. Reason: they grow only a few cm above the groud, it´s lots of dirt around and where the grow there seems to be NO useful Bokeh. But sometimes, yes sometimes, StadtKind is a lucky guy. Especially when his neighbour let´s him into his garden during sunset...

Probably found this the hardest bird from Costa Rica to get a feather detail photo of. The black plumage is like crushed velvet and absorbs all light - quite frustrating! This is the only shot of hundred's where you can see a bit of detail. In flight the red flash of the rump feathers is amazing - especially when the rest of the bird is almost invisible in the darkness of the rainforest canopy.

This shot was taken on the Carribean side of CR, the bird is called the Cherrie's Tanager on the Pacific side, but only the females show slight differences.

Not always the biggest fish are the best memories. It can be the hardest fighting fish, or a fish from a very difficult water, or a fish of pure beauty, in a beautiful setting.

This Mirror carp was not caught from a difficult lake, but I loved it's linear like scale pattern.

In Britain all our carp go back. You should always use a carp sling, and carp unhooking mat. For some reason, the lad who took this photo for me, thought I would not want a carp mat in my picture. I think this is why I remember this capture, even more. He had misunderstood what a carp mat was for.

In the eighties I used a pike unhooking mat, made by Nash, because it was bigger. Though some anglers found unhooking mats unusual in them days. So maybe that's why the lad moved it before taking the photograph.

I started kneeling on the edge of the mat in future photos, making it hard to remove during photos at this water.

Thankfully unhooking mats have become the norn now in the UK, and in many parts of Europe now. We use large tarpaulins for the Wels Catfish.

The carp mats I have now are huge, but back in the day we use to even make them out of old armchair seat cushions. Put carp sack over one, and you had a carp mat.

This fish fought like a salmon in the water, but on the bank the carp stayed calm all through the few photos taken of it. This fish went on to grow much bigger.

This is Olive as Janet so affectionately named her, she was the hardest working mum you could have ever wished for. After the sudden disappearance of the male, she battled on with raising the three Owlets, working literally day and night finding food for them (I know this, as the trail cam picked up every food delivery) I have no idea when she slept, she was constant !!

All this is said in past tense, as she is no longer alive. Last Monday (6th) she was hit by a vehicle we think. After placing her up by my hide, she managed to fly up into the hedge, we were hoping she was just a little bruised. After nearly week of no sightings of any kind we feared the worst, but on Saturday evening she was down on the floor just feet from the hide. I whisked her immediately to the vets, but with all the virus restrictions, I just had to leave her at the door. I was promised a call on Sunday, to give me an update. Well, the call came, but it wasn't good news, she had a broken shoulder and had to be put down. Heaven knows how she flew on that Monday.

Would I have done things differently in hindsight..... I don't know. I was thinking of the three Owlets she had. It was like she came to pass them into my care.

I'm doing my best for them Olive !!!!

I'M NOT A FAN OF MOVING IMAGES UP, BUT A FEW PEOPLE HAVE SAID HOW THIS IMAGE DIDN'T SHOW ON THEIR CONTACT PAGE, SO APOLOGIES TO ALL THE PEOPLE I ANOY.

The hardest of the work is nearly over for the crew of Stanier Jubilee 45699 'Galatea' as it approaches Shap summit with the northbound Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express.

The sight and sounds of the locomotive working up from Tebay was particularly impressive as there was no diesel on the back for assistance.

The Jubilee is nearing the end of it's current boiler ticket and this is likely to be its penultimate working for the immediate future.

The hardest bird to photograph!...took me a while of chasing, LOL, so this is the best picture I could take, not very clear one but worth the running, it has a very beautiful singing too.

Found in a park in Penang, Malaysia.

Sorry I'm not very much around lately, I've been busy in projects and exams for my new studying, yeah, after a long time I've decided that it's great to be back to school, right now studying Master in Web Science :))

Hope all is well my friends, Spring is near! :)

Third and last image in this short robin series...

These birds may be the hardest working foragers in the bird kingdom. They are the first bird to start singing at dawn, and the last birds to quit their worm-pulling at sundown!

I was on my belly to get this low angle. This perspective allows the viewer a more intimate interaction with the bird, seeing the world as they see it.

Enjoy...

The hardest spot I ever got to, was it the fact we had spent over three hours climbing the 1150 meters up Bidean na Bamm and her two sisters? No! The reason was the day before we set off on the long drive from Fermanagh I took a real cold and it took all my strength to complete this 9 hour walk, Im glad I took lots of pictures though so I can enjoy it again on these blustery January nights

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature’s first green is gold,

Her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaf’s a flower;

But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

Nothing gold can stay.

poem by Robert Frost (1923)

The name "chrysanthemum" is derived from the Greek words chrysos (gold) and anthemon (flower)

Chrysanthemums, sometimes called mums or chrysanths, are flowering plants of the genus Chrysanthemum in the family Asteraceae. They are native to Asia and northeastern Europe. Most species originate from East Asia and the center of diversity is in China. Chrysanthemums were first cultivated in China as a flowering herb as far back as the 15th century BC.

The flower was brought to the Western World in the 17th century. There are about 40 valid species and countless horticultural varieties and cultivars.

For many years, chrysanthemum signifies praise and admiration. A chrysanthemum is considered as a noble flower of the Chinese noble class.

The Japanese hold this flower as the symbol of the sun.

Sometimes simplicity hits the hardest. Just one tree standing proud in the paddock… and above it, the mighty Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of our Milky Way, glowing softly across the southern sky.

Captured during a still night somewhere between in the Wheatbelt — lots of fog, airglow and light pollution from a farm nearby. These are the moments that remind me why I chase the night.

There was a lot of IFN dust popping through which I ended up toning down. The sky is a 2-shot stack of 20x60s each blended with a 120s single image foreground.

My photography instructor told me that red is the hardest color to photograph. When I took a photo of this red poppy, it came out looking orange with yellow highlights. It took me several tries to figure out how to return it to its original red, using Photoshop. A good task for a dreary drippy day.

Blasting up a desert mountain at walking speed with 5 Geeps and 22 loads of sulphur and acid! I have done some research to figure out just how steep this grade actually is. First I talked to the crew and found out the hardest pull is from this point to a spot about a 1/4 , mile below. Here is what I have found: The actual grade averages around 3.5 to 3.7%. There is a couple very short spots where it tops 4 to 4.2%. The craziest part is the curves are actually a bit steeper than the straight sections. That means when figuring out compensation the grade against loads could be figured as steep as 5% at this exact spot!
