Sometimes simplicity hits the hardest. Just one tree standing proud in the paddock… and above it, the mighty Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of our Milky Way, glowing softly across the southern sky.

Captured during a still night somewhere between in the Wheatbelt — lots of fog, airglow and light pollution from a farm nearby. These are the moments that remind me why I chase the night.

There was a lot of IFN dust popping through which I ended up toning down. The sky is a 2-shot stack of 20x60s each blended with a 120s single image foreground.

We knew the day will come when we had to say good bye to our special little guest, Temp Temp. :(

Having Temp Temp around has been so much fun! She learned a few magic tricks during her stay....and I swear she's levitating in this photo! LOL

It seems Lenny (far left) is taking it the hardest because she knows it's not only Temp Temp that will be leaving soon...

Thank you so much John for sharing this sweetie with me and the girls. *hugs* ♥ We will miss her!!!

My photography instructor told me that red is the hardest color to photograph. When I took a photo of this red poppy, it came out looking orange with yellow highlights. It took me several tries to figure out how to return it to its original red, using Photoshop. A good task for a dreary drippy day.

Hardest winter day on the road to date last week. Winds were blowing from the side over 75 mph (120 km/h) and it was very dangerous.Fortunately, my load was very heavy and winds were not dangerous for me as I drived around 40 mph. But for those who were lightly loaded, it was better to stay parked and to wait for the winds to stop blowing so hard. Those who tried to drive while lightly loaded were blown out the road this day... I saw five trucks blowed out of of the road "wheels up" on the side this day...

The hardest part of photography, is finding the subject when they don't want to be found!

----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!

12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)

16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)

1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)

7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)

1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

The Waiting - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

Oh baby don't it feel like heaven right now

Don't it feel like somethin' from a dream

Yeah I've never known nothing quite like this

Don't it feel like tonight might never be again

We know better than to try and pretend

Baby no one could have ever told me 'bout this

The waiting is the hardest part

Every day you see one more card

You take it on faith, you take it to the heart

The waiting is the hardest part

Well yeah I might have chased a couple of women around

All it ever got me was down

Then there were those that made me feel good

But never as good as I feel right now

Baby you're the only one that's ever known how

To make me want to live like I want to live now

The waiting is the hardest part

Every day you see one more card

You take it on faith, you take it to the heart

The waiting is the hardest part

Don't let it kill you baby, don't let it get to you

Don't let 'em kill you baby, don't let 'em get to you

I'll be your breathin' heart, I'll be your cryin' fool

Don't let this go too far, don't let it get to you

the hardest pill to swallow

is knowing that tomorrow

you’re not mine mine mine

One of the hardest drone shots i have ever done. This is Pontsmill Viaduct in the Luxulyan Valley on the Newquay branch.

Not only could i not hear her coming there is also not much room to fly the drone due to the site being hemmed in by trees but also on this day there was a stiff easterly breeze buffeting the drone and blowing her towards the trees.

What a surprise and delight to spot a Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) hanging about around the shore patiently observing for fish in the little remains of standing water from the seasonal flooded farm field! Saanich, Vancouver Island, BC.

Needless to say I have been watching this heron with camera and mega lens in hand almost daily, observing through the chain link fence and like the heron patiently waiting for the right moments...somewhat of a challenge photographing through a high chain link fence.

The squirrels may have absconded with several of our sunflowers, but I continued to hope that the last few would be able to blossom without becoming an edible treat.

A few of the tall stems had been battered to the ground by the wind and rain the past few days. It only seemed right to invite them inside for a bit of photo fun.

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature’s first green is gold,

Her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaf’s a flower;

But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

Nothing gold can stay.

poem by Robert Frost (1923)

The name "chrysanthemum" is derived from the Greek words chrysos (gold) and anthemon (flower)

Chrysanthemums, sometimes called mums or chrysanths, are flowering plants of the genus Chrysanthemum in the family Asteraceae. They are native to Asia and northeastern Europe. Most species originate from East Asia and the center of diversity is in China. Chrysanthemums were first cultivated in China as a flowering herb as far back as the 15th century BC.

The flower was brought to the Western World in the 17th century. There are about 40 valid species and countless horticultural varieties and cultivars.

For many years, chrysanthemum signifies praise and admiration. A chrysanthemum is considered as a noble flower of the Chinese noble class.

The Japanese hold this flower as the symbol of the sun.

The hardest part to remember is that you are perfect just as you are, and you can't let anyone change you. They accept you for who you are, inside and out, or they walk away. No choice. Reminding yourself that it's all going to be okay, is a daily battle in itself.

Roskva is the heaviest, hardest, and strongest of the trolls. Every day, Roskva climbs towards the sky, and every year she grows taller and wider. If a troll forgets something, they can always ask Roskva—she counts the seasons and remembers everything. This troll can be seen in the forests of the Costal Maine Botanical Gardens, in Boothbay, Maine.

The trolls were created by Thomas Dambo who lives and works in Copenhagen.  Dambo has become one of the fastest-growing personalities in the Scandinavian art world. As a child, he would scavenge his neighborhood for discarded wood for his projects, carting it home on his bicycle. This childhood love of “treasure” hunting certainly foreshadowed his now global troll hunts.

The hardest exposure I ever had to figure out: light, shadow, deep shade, land, rock, and surf south of Point Lobos on the California coast. Love this place. Always dramatic.

This was taken almost a year to the day that most of the other Pacific coast scenes. The place is just beautiful in January.

When you are out and looking for the light, and that is the hardest thing to find. When you stop looking and turn around, then you see it. The only thing needed is warm summer weather to give this glow it's life.

The hardest part was I had to create triangles for 6 months non-stop (zoom in)

The hardest thing of this shot was to get rid of the ducks. Which were swimming in the littel pond in the foreground.

"The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them -- words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie too close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while you were saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller but for want of an understanding ear."

― Stephen King

One of the hardest yet most important lessons the different Christian communities today have to learn is that they cannot live without each other and that no single one of them in isolation possesses the entirety of the gospel. God has used the often-tragic divisions of Christian history in such a way that each community has been permitted to discover new depths in this or that particular emphasis in doctrine or devotion. And the challenge of the Lord of the Church is that we should recognize this diversity of providential discovery in one another.

---Rowan Williams, The Way of St. Benedict

Busy, the boy with the most beautiful eyes in the world, my best friend, passed away yesterday, just as he lived—discreetly, quietly, with dignity, and without suffering. He would have turned 22 in July.

Once again, my heart is broken, and I'm in denial. I find myself expecting to see him in his favorite places, even though I was the one who laid his body to rest in the garden, next to our beloved Chubby and Bob.

Our house, still full of cats (the kittens we rescued from the streets and dumpsters) lovingly raised and cared for by him, now feels empty. Busy represented a certainty in my life for more than a third of my years, and I hope he always knew how much he was loved.

Thank you for every day, Buzukis, we will see each other again in another universe!

Although not technically the hardest place to get to, this was probably one of the hardest shoots I've had this year by far.

It had taken a while to scramble down the extremely steep and slippy bank here, but amazingly I managed that without incident, anyone who knows me knows that things like that don't usualy go to plan.... I'd taken a while looking around and then setting up until I was happy to start shooting.

All was going well until this point, the shots I was getting all had some sort of what looked like an over exposed area at the top of the frame, no matter what I did it kept happening, it had to be condensation I guessed, I'd taken the filters off I was using and cleaned those, cleaned the lens, put it all back together (really not easy while stood in the middle of a river) and went again... same again!! grrrrr. Dismantle everything again, same again!! and this went on for about an hour in which time I'd dropped my polariser into the river along with all my lens cloths, I'd even ended up sat in the river while bending down to see through the camera.

I've never had this problem ever before and the temperature difference wasn't that great from my camera bag to the outside so no idea what was causing it, really really frustrating, I swapped camera bodies as a last resort thinking it may have been in the camera body itself and that did improve it but not totally, swapped lenses, and even filter systems to a smaller one, I just had to keep going, and keep cleaning until I got what I wanted, I got 2 shots over what I reckon was around 2 hours here, this was the first I was happy with, bit of a nightmare really but if it had taken all day then so be it, not being beaten by a bit of lens fogging, (although I very nearly did give up). It was really nice walking away from the place wet, but knowing I'd got something after all the hassle.

The hardest pull east of Waterloo is this Scales Mound grade. Eastbounds have to fight 8 tough miles of .8% grade out of the Mississippi River Valley. Alot of this grade isn't accessible due to the remote location. Here a grain train bound for the Gulf is down to 14 mph as they have 3 of the 8 miles in here east of Council Hill. I walked in about 10 minutes to one of the many cuts on this grade use to keep the grade consistent.

This one's painted in east london together with Katzo and Rews on a nice and sunny sunday. Character by Katzo!

Get well Trond!

She's faced the hardest times you could imagine,

And many times her eyes fought back the tears.

And when her youthful world was about to fall in

Each time her slender shoulders bore the weight of all her fears,

and her sorrow no one hears, still rings in midnight silence,

in her ears...

Let her cry, for she's a Lady

Let her dream, for she's a Child

Let the rain fall down upon her

She's a free and gentle flower, growing wild.

And if by chance, I should hold her,

Let me hold her for a time;

But if allowed just one possession,

I would pick her from the garden, to be mine.

Be careful how you touch her, for she will waken;

and sleep's the only freedom that she knows.

And when you walk into her eyes, you won't believe;

The way she's always payin' for a debt she never owed,

and the silent wind still blows, that only she can hear,

And so, she goes.

Songwriters: David Richardson / Doug Edwards

The hardest working (according to some) job on INRD is Palestine Utility 4, the weekday evening switcher that runs a 12-mile round trip and switches the refinery in Robinson.

As the train departs the yard at Palestine, it passes the grain elevators that straddle the INRD mainline. The large elevator on the left was owned at one time by FS and a man named Tuttle. On the south side, one can't help but notice the square wooden elevator. Built in the late 1930's, it has five wooden bins inside for drying corn, wheat, and beans. It was last used in 2012, but is still part the entire complex, now owned by local grain operator Mont Eagle Mills, a large shipper on INRD of corn and soybeans.

When I look at this image and see the hardness in it, I think of how grateful we have to be to have health, to have people who love us, family, friends, work ... this man sitting alone with no one around and beside of a church ... how ironic right? I wanted this minimalist image to give more meaning if possible to our life, to raise awareness and be grateful for every moment we have here ... on this little blue planet ...

Please don't feel compelled to comment!

If you read this I will already feel very satisfied and grateful ... I will have achieved something good today!

Have a great day today and may your dreams come true!

Everyone in England must stay at home except for permitted reasons during a new coronavirus lockdown beginning at midnight tonight (4th January 2021).

In a televised address, the PM (Boris Johnson) urged people to follow the rules immediately amid surging cases and patient numbers.

Speaking from Downing Street, Mr Johnson said the weeks ahead would be the "hardest yet". He added that he believed the country was entering "the last phase of the struggle".

Lets hope so, I am starting to go nuts.

The hardest part of taking this photo was holding the camera in one hand, and simultaneously holding Mia, (my terrible Tonkinese cat), out of the way with the other. I tried to explain to Mia how bad it might be to have your face bit off by a snapping turtle, but as usual, she really wouldn't listen, and kept trying to jump right in the middle of things.

All ended well - picture taken, turtle trucked it's self to the pond, and Mia spurted off to find something new to get mixed up in.

It hits me hardest when you smile

With that little bit of sadness round your eyes

That says I might hold you for a while

But I will love you all my life

The one who always falls in love too fast

The one who thinks that this time love will last

Falling, falling,

I cant keep myself from falling

Follow, follow, follow me down...

Pika are a real passion for me. These mighty mights of the alpine world fascinate me to no end. They are adorable, tenacious, fast as lightning, tiny, and the hardest little workers I know. They spend all of the summer gathering various tundra grasses, wild flowers and plants to store under the rocks and boulders for their winter survival. They gather these items in particular orders that only they understand. Many of the plants serve as antibacterial protection for the food stashes. I have spent countless hours photographing and enjoying their antics. Many more images to follow.

The tastiest leaves are always the hardest to reach for this Giraffe seen on our Safari in South Africa.
