One of my hard drives, lets call her Kate, came in this afternoon and told me enough was enough and she would no longer be working for me. She had been making a weird noise lately, so it wasn't totally unexpected, + I already had her cloned a few weeks ago so it wasn't going to be much of a loss.
However, I could'nt very well let her just walk away. After all, I did spend a good £60 pounds on her. Therefore, I decided to get my own back on her. Later on in the afternoon, when she wasn't looking, I shoved her in the freezer.
When I eventually decided to take her out, she was so relieved, she decided that it was in everybodys best interest, that she retract her resignation.
I accepted her returning to work under one condition, she had to work topless. She agreed and back to work she went, still making that stupid sound but at least she was working.
How long will she stay? who knows..
Failed drive. Decided to open it up and see if I could see the ones and zeros. Nope, apparently they're microscopic ;-)
January is usually a good month to clean up old harddisks, organize photos and other stuff one rarely finds time for.
Today was a particular good day for the previously mentioned bearing in mind the additional 30 cm of snow falling and strong winds.
Not much work were done though.
I opened an almost 6 year old folder with Archipelago pictures only and I was totally lost.
Only just 6 months to go until the Archipelago looks like this. Sigh.

Saving the docs off my broken hard disk (bad sectors) to an old 30GB disk.
Windows refused to start even in safe mode so I used Puppy Linux to copy the files between the disks.
Now need to get a new 80GB IDE disk to put in the machine.

Hi everybody. I am back online in South Africa. There is a Gap to be filled from the 19.7.11 when I get back home. So I will just continue writing from here on. I had a harddisk crash (probably from the flight) and some software problems with the Canon Software on this borrowed Computer of my brother in law, so Post is not top and no borders etc. but so what - I am on vecation.
Today we visited the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town, ZA, because it was raining today. I just had my small G11 Camera with me to feel more relaxed, but in this was unnecessairy, because all the tourist were walking around with their DSLR in front of their stomach.
This is a Jelly Fish (do you know Lewis Armstrong...) and I like the contrast with the screens in the background.
