Ik was oude foto's aan het kijken op mijn harde schijf en kwam deze tegen / I was watching some old photos on my harddisk and I found this one.
Slightly edited shot of a severe case of Gadget-mania breaking out in my house in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)
I've mentioned it last week, I've bought some new Gadgets to enhance my Multimedia options and make full use of the wicked possibilities that the Interwebs and the 21st Century in general throw our way...so, to show you how I managed to get my YouTube puddle reflection movies onto my new 32 Inch Flat screen TV (yay :))), follow the white rabbit photos, and enjoy watching how I connected my living room to that obscure online world we all love so much ... :)
Step 1: Go and buy a ridiculously over sized Television, these days the are very affordable and something that would have ruined you financially a year ago, now can be easily picked up with the groceries for a nice price, lucky me :)

Net een mega computer en harddiskcrash gehad. Al mijn foto's van de afgelopen jaren kwijt. Voortaan maar een dubbele disk back-up! Nu wel een nieuw moederbord ingebouwd met meer geheugen dus photoshoppen gaat een stuk beter.

Just had a major computer and harddisk crash. All photo's of the past years are gone. From now on a double disk backup! I now have a new motherboard with more memory so photoshop works a lot better.

What's it good for:
Just plug it in to your laptop and you get 320 Gb of storage! Right now I'm using a similar Freecom USB drive with "only" 160 Gb capacity as my main working unit (wouldn't trust that to my laptop's hard disk, Windows being in there and all), but soon we're going to be setting up audiovisual things, and I need the extra capacity because I expect to spend countless nights reformatting and recompressing videos :-P
Several power outages happened in our office, unfortunately our UPS was late to be prepared to handle. A month after UPS started operating, Ubuntu server warned issuing errors relating hard disk. Last weekend all was clear: our 500 GB crashed, giving us an opportunity to read, last backup, but was failed to write back to the media.
Save work hours, prepare with UPS.
Seen while repairing my brother's mobile phone, the rarely-seen-in-the-wild Hitachi 4Gb micro drive. Next to a 10 pence Sterling for scale.

...of my laptop. That's my hard disk, in an enclosure. The data's all safe, but the laptop is dead, dead, dead.
as if on cue,
I experienced 3 hard disk crashes last week,
my dad's macbook crashed first—it had to be replaced,
my artist's mac mini crashed,
followed by my powerbook,
busy and yet unproductive i tried to salvage whatever i could,
i am yet to reformat the units
and have began the slow process of backing-up,
while using the units with bad blocks,
threatening to completely stack-up anytime.
what a week...
too much to ask from an artist.
An old version of Flight Simulator, this is going back some years, hard disk! I bought many editions after this one, but have kept this as it was my first :)

The thermal grease was very easy to apply on the CPU and CPU cooler, making the transference of heat even better.

this one is indeed a SATA 2.5 inch external hardisk case, but the connection on the case is a full size USB Standard-A socket, not a USB mini-B socket like most external drives. That means, I need a Standard-A to Standard-A cable. Lucky there was one supplied, but if i break or lose it...

These photos was captured during last 13th General Election of Malaysia 2013. During the election campaign period at that time, many street in penang has been swamped with blue 1Malaysia Flags. All this while these pic was kept inside harddisk portable for almost 5years never posted before. The coming soon 14th General Election2018 just around the corner, and now i guess the best time to bring them out.
