Slightly edited shot of a severe case of Gadget-mania breaking out in my house in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

I've mentioned it last week, I've bought some new Gadgets to enhance my Multimedia options and make full use of the wicked possibilities that the Interwebs and the 21st Century in general throw our way...so, to show you how I managed to get my YouTube puddle reflection movies onto my new 32 Inch Flat screen TV (yay :))), follow the white rabbit photos, and enjoy watching how I connected my living room to that obscure online world we all love so much ... :)

Step 6: Connect the shiny, pretty Multimedia player to your ridiculously over sized Television and turn both on...

Step 5: Put the ridiculously over sized Television in a place where you can keep a close eye on it, they do crazy things when you're not watching...better safe than sorry!

Inside tray of a Lacie Porsche USB2 HDD. Was removed from the case using credit cards and perseverance.

SB-R200 left (red filter) and right (blue filter), SB600 bouncing on gold reflector.

We've got some RAID to have recovered. Where currently talking to VOGON International. I thought the Vogon's where only in the business of destroying planets? Hmm.. wierd.

Time for a NAS, isn't it? FireWire 800 is pretty fast, though.

Just found these pictures on my harddisk.

This item is way better compared to buying an HDD SATA enclosure. Swap HDD anytime and your good to go!

A cheap way to make it difficult for the average schmoe to recover data from your old hard disk: cut it in half with a grinder.

Group of workers repair hard drive. Hard drive repair concept

I wouldn't say I'm greedy for money. But I'm definitely greedy for data. I still have e-mails from 1997, some reports I've created for school, lots of porn, configuration files for dozens of computer incarnations, chatlogs, screenshots, backups, Linux ISOs and everything. I keep all that stuff on CDs, some DVDs, but mainly hard disks. My 500 Gig drive can't be seen here, because it is in use. But there are two 250 Gig archive disks, lots of CDs and DVDs as well as my 100 Gig MP3 and photo player (Archos AV500, fuck iPods).

dodgy hard disk failure dammit

Last Friday the HD of my 4,5 year old iMac G5 crashed (I got the start up screen with a flashing finder logo with a question mark in it, so even Mac HD's crash in "style")).

I bought a new HD in a store near by and replaced it myself. Once the HD was replaced I did a new installation, and approx. 5 hours later my iMac was back to"normal".

Thank god I have a external FW HD with an automated backup cycle to protect all my vital data.

Please do not invite my picture to (award) groups with pictures or flashing animations as they have nothing to do with photography. Sincere comments however I do appreciate a lot!

This is what a picture of a hard disk looks like. It didnt have its shell on when I found it and the r/w head arm have been snapped off. I don't know how old it is or what size it is or what brand it is or where it came from. I can tell you it is a 5.25" SCSI drive and probably came from an external hard drive from a Mac classic. Its just a big heavy ornament now but once it was expensive and useful.

Taking a screw-driver we turned the new medium HDD into a vinyl (also it's made of metal...)

Of course we scratched only good music into the disk.

The 'lid' (floor?) of a Lacie Porsche USB2 HDD

It's a macro of a Hard Disc. You see the camerareflection on the shiny surface of the HD. However it's a very close macro, I couldn't see any files : )

I think that now the warrenty is gone...
