I have a very Special Image to Share for 3 reasons.
This is Harambe.
This has never been seen before Today.
This is the very last Photo I ever took of Harambe.
Titled, "Harambe's Last Stand".
Nothing terribly exciting about today's shot, just a welcome to Animal Kingdom's African village of Harambe. Another example of the extreme aging techniques Disney Imagineers employed at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Please let me know what you think and as always, Enjoy!

‧ Common Name: Black Rhinoceros
‧ Scientific Name: Diceros bicornis
‧ Diet: Herbivore
‧ Height at shoulder: 4.5 to 6 feet
‧ Weight: 1,760 to 3,080 pounds
‧ Habitat: Semi-Desert Savannah, Woodlands, Forests, Wetlands native to eastern and southern Africa
‧ Population: approximately 5,500 (once as low as 2,500 or less)

‧ Black rhinos are the smaller of the two African rhino species. The most notable difference between white and black rhinos are their hooked upper lip. This distinguishes them from the white rhino, which has a square lip.
‧ Black rhinos are browsers rather than grazers, and their pointed lip helps them feed on leaves from bushes and trees.
‧ They have two horns, and occasionally a third, small posterior horn.

Walt Disney World, Disney's Animal Kingdom - 09/18/09
Casual dining area between Tamu Tamu Refreshments and the Harambe Fruit Market in the Africa section at DAK.
I will be out most of today, but will catch up with everybody later this evening and tomorrow. I hate missing all of the great new photos...
Haven't had any time to build recently cuz of school but I did just get these new display cases set up. The german box in the bottom right is pretty much all done, still working on the other two.
Also going through some massive parts reorganization rn. As soon as I have all my stuff squared away and I have an open workspace I'll start a few projects that I have in mind, particularly vehicles. Will probably also have some s@l35 soon to get rid of stuff I no longer need/use

I saw this scene in the Africa area of Disney's Animal Kingdom park just after sunset as I was heading to the exit. Initially the skies in the background caught my eye, but the colors, textures, reflections really brought visual interest to this composition. I especially like the weathered look of the white walls as well as the warm lighting on the buildings here.
I have wanted to get this shot for quite a while now but never got anything worthwhile. Finally, the sky gave me something interesting to work with and I now have a shareable version of this shot. I really wanted some warmth in the sky to compliment the warm lighting of Harambe’s port. The orange glow from the setting sun did just the trick. Enjoy!
Week 18 - Some fisheye fun. Shot with a borrowed Opteka 6.5mm fisheye lens at Disney's Animal Kingdom
Just before the first major Toledo Sub. meltdown of the summer of 2016, L231 turns the corner at DR after going via Fostoria.
What started out as a normal day on the old B&O turned into a raging shitstorm quicker than you can say "Harambe's dank kush". With severe weather on the way and a work curfew causing a backup of northbounds, LA desk had his work cut out for him.
At 3 PM when the curfew was lifted, D743, K596, L501, L231, and L507 all got to Deshler at the same time while 6 northbounds were attempting to get through or leave Lima. K596 died at Cairo, D743 held at Leipsic, L231 made it to Belmore, L507 held north of the diamond, and L501 didn't even make it out of the west siding at Deshler. So yeah, that was super cool to witness the first meltdown of the summer on CSX's Toledo Sub. and I'm sure there'll be more to come, needless to say I can't wait. Here is L231 at 4 PM, at 10 PM they were 3 miles south of town. It was lit.
A day with my Angelo on the beach is always one of the best days.

Harambe also known as the Port of Harambe (as seen above) is the fictitious city which serves as the setting for the themed "land", Africa of Disney's Animal Kingdom. The real Harambe is a municipal port located in an unidentified county in East Africa, along the Uvumbuzi River which connects to the Indian Ocean. The colony was originally known as Harambe Village with the name Harambe being a Swahili term for communal labour. The main language used by natives in Harambe is that of Swahili though English was also very commonly spoken. The village was colonized in the year 1420 by imperial Europeans. Throughout the 1500s, the village was a major trading-port used for amoral businesses such as ivory, precious metals, & spices. Colonial British groups frequented the port in the 1800s, notably through the Tusker House establishment. Harambe would serve as a base for the company Kilimanjaro Safaris which arranged for safaris through the wilderness surrounding Harambe. Around the 1930s, the port of Harambe was visited by the colonial Adventure Trading Company which traded totems known as jujus. Prior to the year 1938, a book on Harambe was written by an author named Wilson with the title, "The Harambe Chronicles". At some point in the 19th or 20th century, the port would also host the international adventurers group known as the Wilderness Explorers. In the year 1961, the people of Harambe revolted against their European colonial overlords. Via this revolution, Harambe gained its independence and celebrated the event by declaring it as "Uhuru 1961" or "Freedom 1961". By the 1990s, the wildlife surrounding Harambe was turned into the Harambe Wildlife Reserve which aimed to preserve Africa's fauna. The Wilderness Explorers and Kilimanjaro Safaris often worked with the reserve to assist in protecting Harambe's wildlife and culture.
Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

Today, we travel to Harambe at Disney's Animal Kingdom. I have talked about this before but there is no better sky to have in your shots then a blue, puffy, white clouded sky. There is just so much character a sky like this can add to your photos. If you had a choice, what type of sky would you like to have in your photos? Have a great weekend!
