Happy Spring everyone! Yes, I know its a little bit late. This is from a Yoshino Cherry tree in my back yard. Its probably my favorite type of tree. With this shot I figured I'd try something a little different from what I'm used to.
Com o retorno das aulas, o tempo por aqui tornou-se menor e a saudade maior.
Hoje é um dia muito especial para uma pessoa igualmente especial: a Mel!
Essa foto foi tirada no mesmo dia que outra que já postei aqui com esse livro. Havia falado para Mel que um dia que eu a postasse, dedicaria a ela, tão apaixonada pela Alice no País das Maravilhas.
Desde que a conheci pelo flickr, sempre a reconheci mesmo como uma Alice ou uma Amélie, cheia de encantos, virtudes e com seu jeitinho de olhar a vida de forma mágica :)
Que Deus a abençoe e ilumine cada vez mais e mais Mel e que essa luz que há dentro de você, continue irradiando muitas outras pessoas e tornando dias mais coloridos e alegres.

There was a lot of wind and shadow, but I'm happy with the result of this little bumblebee.
I'm not quite sure about the bumblebee species, it was little and round, almost like a fly.
As you may know I like blazers and Hello Kitty mixed them both and you get this :-)

My best friend's mother, one of the sweetest loves of my life, turns 89 today. For the tiny little thing that she is, she is still a force to be reckoned with. Stronger than most of us far younger than she, she's gone through 4 broken ribs, a broken hip and two hip replacement surgeries in just the last 7 months...but she's still here and smiling.
We often muse that, if it "takes a village to raise a child," then it takes a small city to keep our elderly loved ones safe and healthy. Approaching 90 is not for the faint hearted! And if not for a wonderful team of family, friends, nurses, caregivers and doctors, we would not be celebrating today. So thank you to the "team" and Happy Birthday, Liz! If you think today's party is wild, wait until you see next year's!! :) <3 <3

Something different, well, at least for me
I picked up a new toy yesterday. I needed some sensor cleaning supplies and went to my local camera store on my lunch break to go get them. I am happy to say that I finally found a camera store in the Santa Cruz area that actually carries the essential supplies as well as having Lee filters and other odds and ends I purchase frequently.
And in today’s economy, where you spend your dollars is more important than ever. If you live near Santa Cruz, check out Monterey Bay Photo Mart on Park Ave. It’s a funky little shop, but they might just have what you need at the same or less than online. Anyway…
As I chatted with the store owner, I let my lust for new lenses and my desire to help support the local economy get the best of me. I picked up Nikon’s new 35mm f1.8 G AF-S DX lens. I’ve always wanted a lens like this, and it was definitely an impulse buy. I really didn’t do any research on it, and in the end, I will just have to see if I enjoy its qualities.
So, I present my cliché bokeh shot with my new toy. And hey, it’s on Wednesday! Ok, I got carried away.
