Good morning everyone :)
Happy Friday! ... as the weather has totally cooled down here, I thought that sharing this collection might be appropriate. You can find the link to it {plus detailed links to each shop & prices} right here, where I shared some thoughts on the subject of "Staying in - the new going out", the original title of this treasury recently curated [more treasuries here & there]. You are always welcome & invited to join in if you wish!
For those of you who' d like to know, I'm currently involved in the designing process of our soon to be new home {not a piece of cake, I assure you, as the space has off course its advantages but quite a few shortcomings, too}, while also sorting out & packing our things & preparing/ planning our movement.
It's a good chance to review some past approaches to life & I'm seeing that more and more, having less & less things attracts me.
I prefer to sort things out, keep the ones that are really needed, functional and definitely aesthetically pleasing / while totally matching the home's "outfit", than over stuff a place with storage for things of no use.
So, you have noticed that I'm rarely here, paying visits is also only but an exception for the time being. I'm looking forward to a few weeks from now, having settled in, and for the first time then, saying that I'll devote all the time that I wish, strolling through flickr and spending time with you!

My oldest granddaughter made a beautiful 50's Happy Days girl. Her youth group at church had a fundraiser, a sweetheart banquet, they decorated everything up like a diner in the 50's and all of the youth dressed the part. I loved her shoes and her hair I use to own a pair like that, too. Several people said she looked just like me when I was 17. Of Course I wore my hair just like that - tee hee. Hope you all enjoy seeing these. My hubby has the flu and is not feeling very good. Hopefully by tomorrow he will be getting his strength back. Have a great Thursday out there in Flickr country. Diwali also called Divali, Deepavali or the "festival of lights", is a five-day Hindu festival which starts on Dhanteras, celebrated on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna paksha (dark fortnight) of the Hindu calendar month Ashwin and ends on Bhaubeej, celebrated on the second lunar day of Shukla paksha of the Hindu calendar month Kartik.
For Hindus, Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. For Jains, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha or nirvana by Mahavira in 527 BC. For Sikhs, Diwali is particularly important because it celebrates the release from prison of the sixth guru, Guru Hargobind, and 52 other princes with him, in 1619. Arya Samajists, celebrate this day as Death Anniversary of Swami Dayanand Saraswati. They also celebrate this day as Shardiya Nav-Shasyeshti.
The name "Diwali" or "Divali" is a contraction of deepavali which translates into "row of lamps". Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. These lamps are kept on during the night and one's house is cleaned, both done in order to make the goddess Lakshmi feel welcome. Firecrackers are burst because it is believed that it drives away evil spirits. During Diwali, all the celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends.

Here in Canada, it is our Thanksgiving long weekend, with tomorrow, Monday 9 October 2017, being the official Thanksgiving Day. Some people choose to celebrate on the Sunday (today) and others on the Monday (tomorrow). I wanted to wish all Canadians a Happy Thanksgiving, no matter what part of the world you are living in or serving in. We have so much to be thankful for every day in this country, even in difficult or sad times! A special thank you to those service people and their families, who make so many sacrifices for the rest of us, too, sometimes the ultimate sacrifice. I am very thankful for what you all do for the rest of us. Have a happy and safe time, everyone, whether you are fortunate enough to get together with family or spend the time quietly by yourself.

Today my beautiful, tolerant and loving wife is another year older (not giving her age only just out of trouble for the sea lion pic). After 12 years together next month I still question what she sees in me on a daily basis. But hopefully she'll still love me in another 12.
