Crazy Tuesday -Happy New Year

Dagwood again! He's so photogenic. Happy ScATsURDAY!

As you can see, I wasn't the only one photographing this eyeball. I really makes a statement. This is from the Dallas trip. I really want to go back. I feel like there is so much more to see. Here's some information on the Eye

Tony Tasset’s larger-than-life optic sculpture, Eye, has become one of the most iconic (and rumor-generating) fixtures on Main Street.

The 30-foot-tall fiberglass, resin, and steel sculpture is a replica of the American multimedia artist’s own eye. Referencing everything from a pharaoh’s eye, a Masonic eye, and the eye of “Big Brother,” the piece ultimately means “whatever you want,” says Tasset. “Eye is one of those images that has taken on a number of meanings over the years. God and consciousness are just two of them.”

Originally commissioned as part of the Chicago Loop Alliance’s Art Loop program, Eye made its debut in the Windy City’s Pritzker Park in 2010 before arriving in its new Dallas home three years later. Since then, it has become the city’s most unique private event space and the site of the annual Dallas Art Fair’s closing soiree The Eye Ball, along with countless weddings, parties, yoga classes, and selfies.

Dracaena fragrans are a popular indoor plant, sometimes known as Chinese Happy or Money Plants and occasionally given as presents for Chinese New Year. I have had a few growing under lillypilly trees for more than ten years in my sub-tropical Gold Coast home garden. They prosper there and grow to about five metres. I had never seen the flowers until yesterday! One blew over a few years ago and I pruned them all to about one metre. For the moment their flowers are within reach. They also have a an unforeseen delightful aroma. I think I'll keep them pruned!

Happy new year, everyone! This always feels like a time to be grateful. Photography has given me many wonderful gifts over the years. One of the most extraordinary was a visit to Svalbard in 2022, so here's a remastered image from that trip. Thanks to all for being part of our community and very best wishes for 2026.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2025 !

Happy Caturday :-). Miss Bella bobcat near some beautiful colors.

Some Happy Caturday poignancy - that group has, for tomorrow's theme, your cat's favorite place. I thought I'd take some pix here of Tikki on the old stub of a gateway which she uses as a scratching post, viewpoint and roof access.

Well, the siding guys came today, and indicated that the stub of a gateway would be better removed for sake of said siding (in part, why that bit is being replaced...) and, given that there is no use for it other than a cat perch, I'm having it removed. Luckily, Tikki has other favorite places, including my lap, where she is as I am typing this.

Happy Easter to my Flickr Friends!

Thank you for views, faves and comments. Much appreciated!

This is Reynisfjara beach - Iceland. Reynisfjara is a world-famous black-sand beach found on the South Coast of Iceland, which features basalt columns and the dramatic Reynisdrangar sea stacks. It's beside Vik i Myrdal, the southernmost village on the mainland of Iceland.

The sand at Reynisfjara is black due to its volcanic origins. Formed from cooled lava that flowed into the ocean during eruptions, the lava fragments were broken down over time by the powerful waves, creating the distinctive black sand beach we see today.

The beach is also known to be dangerous due to 'sneaker' waves but despite this (and the most horrendous winds when we visited) we encountered this somewhat excited tourist who asked my wife to film him before proceeding to dance around without a care in the world! And no this isnt a colour splash shot - everything was grey apart from my wifes coat.

SSC Challenge this week: "Holiday food and beverages."

Here is my "holiday beverage of choice" for the challenge. This is a nice, local wine. I don't often drink wine, but this was very enjoyable. Sharp Sisters Red Blend

And a lovely holiday tune for you:

Mannheim Steamroller from their "Christmas Extraordinaire" album (2001). Happy Holidays, everyone!

Do You Hear What I Hear? or Do You Hear What I Hear? or Do You Hear What I Hear? (am I repeating myself ? ;)

While technically not until tomorrow, it is tomorrow somewhere and I liked the continuity.
