caught him climbing the monkey ladder .......school playground.

Wildlife is definitely a passion of mine. And size doesn't matter.

I spend quite a bit of time, camera in hand, tramping through various places: forests, meadows, mountains, vales, prairies and any place that I think a critter, big or small, may be. Of course, in so doing that virtually guarantees I won't find anyone out, because you often don't find what you are looking for. But sometimes, when you least expect it, you find someone there.

And sometimes they put up a fight.

Take, for example, this fine fellow. I encountered him at Bandolier National Monument just off a main trail. I asked, politely, of course, if he would mind that I took his picture. Now, squirrels, as a whole, are very accommodating and typically love the camera. For whatever reason (everyone has a bad day now and then) this guy did not want his picture taken and was quite hostile to me. Not wishing to tangle with a squirrel I began backing away, carefully, and apologizing for the intrusion. But even the apology wasn't enough and he put up his dukes and challenged me to a fight, right then and there. That was too much for me, and I made a hasty retreat.

Today's lesson: size doesn't matter, for a squirrel will take you on, and not all squirrels like cameras, despite what you may have heard.
