About this photograph.
I was at the 2013 West Fest outdoor festival event, simply because a friend of mine asked me to come along, and like any photographers do, I simply bring my camera along in case I could try to get some street-style candid photos or whatever I can find. I was not there to do photography, simply being there for a friend of mine, which is why I never bothered to write down any information on what happened during the festival, not even names of any musicians.
So I really have no information about who there are, if it’s just a singer with a backing band, or if they’re actually a group. They were playing on stage during a very hot sunny afternoon while I sat across the field, I think. Or maybe I was sitting in one of the tents.
I tried to frame the shot so that it would includes the drummer as well as the lead singer and the two guitarist. The photo was originally shot in colour, but lot of dehazing is needed, and I decided on a good old fashion black and white looks, so I converted it into black and white in Adobe Lightroom.
Malvern used to host an outdoor music festival called West Fest (or WestFest without a space), and was usually at the West Malvern Playing Fields, but I don’t know what happened to it nowadays.

Lots of snow on the ground here in Utah. This photo is from a recent sledding expedition on the hill behind our elementary school. Kellie is demonstrating how much fun she is having despite the cold weather. Tried to capture her with a blurred background to show the amazing speed. This is my 1000th Flickr picture.

I'm just finishing up Scott Bakker's (excellent) trilogy 'the Prince of Nothing' and somehow I feel this creature could be a character in this story.. don't really know why, as there is there's no descriptions that made me think any of them would look like this.. maybe it's just the pose that makes me think of Khellus..
for strobist: 1 off camera flash with a little box as a snoot from the side to illuminate the smoke and to make sure the background remains dark. Flash triggered with off-camera flash cord. afterwards image was mirrored in photoshop, and some selective colouring was applied
Mara gang members, having hands behind theirs heads and sitting on the floor, pass through a random search at the detention center in San Salvador, El Salvador. Although the country's two major gangs reached a truce in 2012, the police holding cells currently house more than 3000 inmates, five times more than the official built capacity. Partly because the ordinary Mara gang members did not break with their criminal activities (extortion, street-level distribution of drugs, etc.), partly because Salvadorean police still applies controversial anti-gang law which allows to detain almost anyone for “suspicion of gang membership”. Accused young men are held in police detention centers where up to 25 inmates may share a cell of five-by-five metres. Here, in the dark overcrowded cages, under harsh and life-threatening conditions, suspected gang members wait long months, sometimes years, for trial or for to be transported to a regular prison. © Jan Sochor Photography
