Camp Eagle was the base camp where I was stationed while in Vietnam. It is in Quang Tri Provence, north of Phu Bai. It was near the old capital city of Hue. I was in the 63rd Signal Battalion in microwave communications support for the 101st Airborne Rangers.

Photos from the spontaneous march/rally in Seattle, WA on 24 Nov 2014 in the wake of the grand jury decision not to indict Darren Wilson in the shooting of Michael Brown.
A bit of a silly one for todays shot. I am working on a picture for my 52 weeks project called childhood memories and this is one of my old toys. I think he has been picked up for indecent exposure as he tends to not wear pants.
For all my Aussie contacts, I have left his identity unknown, but I'm sure you should all remember my old friend (I'll tag his name in soon).
As a bonus he also fits in with this weeks shadows theme.

Termiz, marshrutka, minibus, "baby hands up" song
Marshrutka is a form of public transportation such as a share taxi for the countries of CIS, the Baltic states, Bulgaria and Georgia. The role of the modern marshrutka is theoretically similar to the share taxi, that use minibuses in other countries.
Usually marshrutkas are vans and drive along set routes. They usually depart only when all seats are filled, and may have higher fares than buses. Passengers can board a marshrutka anywhere along its route if there are seats available.
As fares are usually paid before the marshrutka leaves, which seat you choose can have consequences. Riders nearer the driver are responsible for handing up the other passengers' fares and passing back change.
The song is by Ottawan, a pop music duo, who scored the hit singles "D.I.S.C.O." and "Hands Up (Give Me Your Heart)" in the early 1980s.

Washington DC, December 5, 2014. Activists protesting the failure to indict killer cops Darren Wilson and Daniel Pantaleo gather in Chinatown for a rally, 'die in' and meandering march through the northwest quadrant of the city. I counted around two hundred at the 'die in', and about one hundred still present as the mostly youthful crowd stormed up gentrified 14th St. Interactions between the marchers and police were peaceful and respectful. There were no arrests I am aware of. Similar actions were taking place all across the USA. They will almost certainly continue to occur unless there is some meaningful reform of policing culture and practice, especially as it impacts communities of color.

Group of Muslim men with green head covers waving hands and chanting at the Milad un-Nabi street parade.
This is the celebration of Eid-Milad-un-Nabi, Prophet Muhammad's Birthday. Milad un-Nabi, also known as Nabi Day and Mawlid, is a gazetted holiday in India.
It is the occasion of large street parades and other festivities by the Muslim male population (Muslim women are not allowed to participate in those public festivities).
