Yet another shot of foggy Yosemite Valley, this time focusing on Half Dome. Tunnel/Discovery View, Yosemite, California.
Das Gebäude ist Teil des historischen Wasserwerks am Roten Tor. Dieses Ensemble mit drei Wassertürmen ist wahrscheinlich das älteste bekannte Wasserwerk Mitteleuropas. Seit 1416 versorgte es die Stadt mit Trinkwasser. Seine Pumpsysteme waren in ganz Europa bewunderte technische Einrichtungen und bestanden über viereinhalb Jahrhunderte bis 1880.
Unter der Brücke fließt der Vordere Lech (außerhalb der Stadtmauer heißt er Lochbach) Das Obere Brunnenmeisterhaus ist ein Mansarddachbau aus dem 17. Jahrhundert. Direkt an seiner Westfassade fließt der Vordere Lech vorbei. Die Bezeichnung „Haus zu den Fischen“ verdankt das Gebäude den beiden bronzenen Delfine, die links und rechts der Eingangstür angebracht sind. Im Oberen Brunnenmeisterhaus befinden sich das Treppenhaus des Kleinen Wasserturms und die ehemalige Dienstwohnung des Brunnenmeisters. Heute ist in dem Gebäude eine Dauerausstellung zur historischen Wasserversorgung Augsburgs zu sehen.

The building is part of the historic waterworks at the Red Gate. This ensemble with three water towers is probably the oldest known waterworks in Central Europe. It had been supplying the city with drinking water since 1416. Its pumping systems were admired technical devices throughout Europe and existed for four and a half centuries until 1880.
The Vordere Lech (Front Lech) flows under the bridge in front of the house (outside the city wall it is called Lochbach).
The Upper Well Master's House is a mansard-roofed building from the 17th century. The Vordere Lech flows directly past its west façade. The building owes its name "House of the Fishes" to the two bronze dolphins attached to the left and right of the entrance door. The Upper Well Master's House contains the staircase of the Small Water Tower and the former official residence of the well master. Today, the building houses a permanent exhibition on Augsburg's historical water supply.

Old photo print I took on top of Half Dome. If you visit Yosemite and hike to the top of Half Dome, start very early in the morning, so you don't wind up walking back down in the dark. There is a lot of room to walk around on the top, but don't get to close to the edge: it's a long way down.
This charity lighthouse was located in The Green, Aberdeen. As you can see another artist has been at work on the doorway. I thought the detail was pretty good.
Light the North was in connection with Clan Cancer Support.
It was the lighthouse I was interested in and I was interested that it had a Gaelic proverb; “Nair a thig air duine, thig air uile” (If it falls on one, it falls on all). It also had another saying “It never rains but it pours.” The artists were Conzo and Globel and they wanted to remind us that no one is spared the struggles of life and by trying to share a burden, we can half a burden.
In life it is not what is real that is important, so much as how we see what is real. Is our life half full or half empty?
Rønne, Capital, Denmark
Rønne is the largest town on the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. It has a population of 13,798 (1 January 2023)
Rønne probably originated around the year 1000 when a small fishing community grew up around the natural harbour. Around 1275, a small chapel dedicated to St Nicolas was built on the site where Rønne's church now stands.
At the end of World War II, on 7 and 8 May 1945, the town was bombed by Soviet aircraft when the commandant of the German occupying forces refused to surrender. The air raid destroyed 212 houses, but only ten civilians were killed, the population having been alerted in advance. Although the rest of Denmark had been liberated on 4 May, the Soviets occupied Bornholm on 9 May, sending the Germans back to Germany. The Soviet Union did not leave until 5 April 1946 when an agreement was reached with the Danish authorities and the island finally came under Danish rule once more.
Most of the houses in Rønne were destroyed or damaged by the bombs and it took several years to rebuild the town, retaining its traditional architecture, quaint streets and half-timbered houses. The Swedes contributed 300 timber houses to the town while the rest of Denmark including Greenland and the Faroes raised the considerable sum of 8 million Danish kroner to help rebuild the town.
Half Dome is a granite dome in Yosemite National Park, located in northeastern Mariposa County, California, at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley. Possibly Yosemite's most familiar sight. The granite crest rises more than 4,737 ft (1,444 m) above the valley floor.

This is a reprocessed image - used drizzle x 3 to enlarge and some recently learnt noise-reduction techniques.
A wealth of galaxies in this view centred on elliptical galaxy M86
from L to R, Arp 120, M86 and M84 form the lower right hand section of Markarian's chain, a visual string of galaxies - my field of view was too small (49 arcmins) to include them all.

At 0330 is elliptical galaxy M84
At 0400 is elliptical galaxy NGC 4387
At 0530 is spiral galaxy NGC 4388
At 0630 is barred spiral galaxy NGC 4413
At 0800 is spiral galaxy NGC 4425
At 1130 near the very top is a small irregular galaxy IC 3355
At 1100 are "the Eyes" a pair of interacting galaxies (NGC 4435 and NGC 4438)(Arp 120). Gravitational interaction has distorted one of the pair.

Along the Merced River in Yosemite Valley, near the "swinging bridge". Winter is one of my favorite times in Yosemite, not only is the valley beautiful in it's winter setting, but most amazing is there are very few people!
Note to tourists contemplating a winter visit...It's really cold, often snowed in, limited accommodations, icy, slippery, and filled with starving bears.
