Half the Story is a macro photograph of a chrysanthemum.

Was that a half a wink or just a glare at the lens?

The field corn in my area has ripened to the point where the local farmers in my area are chopping it for silage. Here a partially-cut field is illuminated by the last sunlight of the day as storm clouds move to the east.

A medium-sized dark-backed albatross with pale underwings outlined by a narrow dark border and a dark notch in the armpit. The adult has a whitish head with grayish cheeks that give it a “white-capped” appearance. The gray-green bill has a yellowish tip to both mandibles. Juveniles are grayer on the head with gray bills. The species breeds on islands off Tasmania and New Zealand but disperses widely across the southern Oceans between 15 and 60°S, where it is a frequently encountered pelagic seabird. Similar albatrosses have a dark-tipped (not pale-tipped) lower half to the bill, and Salvin’s Albatross has a pale gray head and Chatham Albatross a slaty-gray head, further differentiating them from White-capped Albatross. Juveniles of these three are very difficult to separate. (eBird)

By far the most frequently seen albatraoss of our trip. Usually seen gliding effortlessly over the ocean, this one decided to join the fun of our albatross hunt. He is one of the four species that we found that day.

This curved wooden bench was quite lovely when new, about 10 years ago. But time and use have taken their toll. The far half shown here is quite broken, while the other half still works. I wonder how long it will take the university to replace/repair it? HBM! (or in this case, 'unhappy' bench).

Part of my enjoyment in my photo enthusiasm is in the post processing phase. I enjoy editing to get the image to look the way I feel it presents itself best. But at other times, and quite often I leave well enough alone and go SOOC.

Here I especially like how all the individual elements near and far create new interrelationships with one another when flattened upon the picture frame. Yes, all those poles, but here the water tower and traffic cone are a half mile away from each other, but in the shot they are buddies. Add in that tree and let's have a party. -- throw in a red reflector as the fulcrum and let's swing.

A quick hand-held photo because it was cold outside. 😋

Just hit #2 in Explore! Thank you so much for taking a peak and for all the comments and faves!

A view of my favourite fishing boat on Sizewell beach. The Nuclear Power station is just behind the propeller. The blue plastic half pipes go under the boat when it's pushed off the beach into the sea I believe.

If you look carefully, you can see a green light on the side of half dome, that is someone who is camped out with a 3000 ft drop outside their tent door.

Probably the most famous mountain shape in California, maybe elsewhere too.

The cathedral was built in the second half of XIX century in Neo-Byzantine style and dedicated to the prince of Kievan Rus who converted the country to Orthodox Christianity. Several cathedrals and churches dedicated to St. Vladimir were built in the Russian Empire to mark 900 years of St. Vladimir's baptism, with the main event of the countrywide celebration in 1888 taking place in Kyiv; unfortunately, the cathedral was not quite finished and was officially consecrated 8 years later.

This will be my last post or a while, Flickr friends, as I care for precious loved ones in my family. I probably won't have time to comment on your great images... Prayers appreciated.

Most of my moon shots are when it is full. But this half-moon (at 57%) begged be for its portrait, so I complied :)

Viewed from Mirror Lake at sunset. The thousands of feet of sheer rockface is jaw dropping. The top is over 4,000ft above the valley floor, just staggering.
