This little guy was very inquisitive on my visit to the graveyard last week. As he peered out of this bush this was my first shot of the night. It was underexposed in a dark corner but I think it really works for this shot! He gradually stepped out going back and forth getting braver and braver. What a cutie he is! I feel so honoured he trusted me enough to share his space. Wildlife photography is so rewarding when it pays off!

Loaded with large coke from Chapletown Yorkshire for a coal merchants in Penzants Cornwall, we had a return load of China clay back to the potteries Stoke on Trent, nearly 1000 miles round trip. The body extensions were only used when carrying coke and they was folded down for coal or clay. The latter was so heavy it hardly reached the corners of the body.
I gotta say I never expected to see a full two page spread with just my stuff on it in Guy's excellent Steampunk Lego book, but there it is.
I'm honored to be featured alongside a lot of awesome people who define Lego Steampunk for me. I only dabble in the stuff from time to time, after all.

Back Story .................
So Who is this new dog sitting here with Mr Tuff Guy ?
Actually she isn't so new, Honey is the head monks dog. For the most part she stays real close to him but does play with Tuff Guy on occasions.
GF doesn't like her one bit, out of jealousy I presume !
Leroy likes her a lot but Honey always gives him the cold shoulder.
She's a very friendly dog and well fed by the monk and his workers. Whenever I sit with the head monk Honey places her head in my lap and soaks up all the affection she can get, the head monks loves it ... ;-)

I was bored in art class a couple days ago after I finished my Eye of Agamotto, so I decided to crank this "Guy" out! Guy Fieri is a big meme with my friends right now because we frequently go to a restaurant that he went to on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives so we always see his face whenever we walk in and we laugh. I'd side this side profile is a winner winner chicken dinner!
September 29, 2012: Tall Ship Kajama - Toronto, Canada
The mast of a sailing vessel is a tall, vertical or near vertical spar, or arrangement of spars, which supports the sails. Large ships have several masts, with the size and configuration depending on the style of ship. Nearly all sailing masts are guyed masts. A guyed mast is a tall thin vertical structure that receives support from guy lines.
The Tall Ship Kajama traded under sail for nearly 70 years. She was a familiar ship in ports from Northwest Spain, through western Europe, and as far north as Norway and Russia. In 1999, Kajama was delivered transatlantic by Great Lakes Schooner Company and restored to her original profile. Today, the 164' three-masted gaff-rigged schooner can comfortably accommodate parties of up to 225 people in the 1,600 sq ft dining room while cruising Toronto Harbour. Kajama was used on the television series The Amazing Race.

Seeing as it's Valentines Day I may as well do something for it this week.
So tonight's shot is inspired by two people; FadeToBlackLP & CatMacBride. You should check both these guys out Tim can do some amazing light painting stuff and Cat MacBride can do some great things with pieces of paper (paper houses, cars, anything). Firstly I was inspired by an article by Cat MacBride in a magazine I read a while back about how to shape Bokeh and I thought it would be perfect for the background of this shot. All I needed to do was get some card and cut a heart shape out of it and put it between the lens and UV filter. But then I came to a problem. My Canon EF-S 17-85mm wouldn't be able to get the heart shapes but then my Canon EF 50mm isn't the sharpest of lenses (and I'm extremely fussy about sharpness - don't ask why and I'm probably never going to change about it). So then this is where my inspiration from Tim comes from. I decided to do a bit of lens swapping.
So to begin with I set up my scrabble pieces with my EF-S 17-85mm on the camera at f/8.0 and on bulb mode. Then it was lights of and shutter started. Once the flash had fired I put the lens cap on and began the process of swapping the lens to my EF 50mm. Once lenses were swapped I turned on the LEDs (which were covered with red quality street wrapper) and began to move them into place. After that was sorted I turned the LEDs off and removed the lens cap and adjusted the card with the heart cut out until it was in the correct position and turned LEDs back on. After roughly 1 second I ended the exposure. Simple as that really.
