The idea for making this magazine cover were a bunch of tourists using flash while taking pictures of murals inside a tomb at Monte Albán in spite of the tour guide telling them not to. UV light and light in general greatly spead up the process of pigment deterioration in such murals so: people, NO FLASH PLEASE!

Since we had to get a guide on such short notice he could only stay with us for 2 days due to prior arrangements. His friend was our guide for the next 2 days. To be an official tour guide they are prescreen for language skills and then go to school for 3 months. At the end there is an exam. They then go back for a month once a year to learn more and pass a recertification exam.
