This is Kong, my tour guide. I hired him for one day. If you need a guide around the Angkorian temples, he's very good and knowledgeable. His number in Cambodia is (855)12-790-325. Kong is Chinese-Cambodian, but like many Chinese-Cambodians does not speak much Chinese. He told me that his name in Khmer means "Still Alive." At 25 years old, he was born right after the Khmer Rouge was ousted from the capital, so... I'd say that's not a bad name to give a child at that time...

Tylön, en av landets cirka 1700 kronholmar. Tylöns fyr tändes 1870 och var i bruk till 1968, varefter personalen flyttade i land. Nu tjänar fyren som sjömärke. Bronsåldersrösena på öns mitt byggdes för att synas. Fyrpersonalen bestod av tre familjer som bebodde tre lägenheter. Det fanns 2 dass, Ett för fyrmästaren med familj och ett för övriga. Vid förra sekelskiftet, då öns befolkning var som störst, fanns ett 20-tal barn som gick i egen skola och undervisades av en lärarinna anställd av lotsverket. Sedan 1927 är Tylön naturreservat och fågelskyddsområde. Tylön är en del av vårt gemensamma kulturarv och förvaltas av Statens fastighetsverk.
