This grumpy looking fella is a curve-billed thrasher. Despite his rather downturned beak, his song is fairly cheery. That long curved bill comes in handy when foraging for insects desert environments.

Not exactly your "Bluebird of Happiness"

Portrait Of A Boulder...

This boulder had so many personalities... I couldn't help but capture them!

This grumpy osprey had just finished shooting some "silly string" at my feet, and apparently was not happy I was on the trail that day LOL.

Making my annual pilgrimage to my accountant and not wanting to deal with the potholes, kamikaze taxi drivers and outrageously expensive parking I take the train into Manhatten to take care of business and in the 65 years of riding the trains is with exception of people heading to a ball game or some other special events subways are filled with tired looking people with mostly dour expressions going to and from work.

Grumpy Bird is a Superb Starling and they live up to their name. They are not only amazingly colourful but they also have loads of personality. Superb Starlings are an African species and I took this photo in the aviary at our zoo.

Grumpy girl. She did not like that I had the camera out.

Somehow they all look grumpy head-on.

I ended up breaking one of the eggs "head" as it rolled out of the carton. A bit of light fun for the challenge of out of place.

True story: on this beautiful sunny Sunday morning I cruised by to check out this fellow for my 29th picture. I paused for a four way stop intersection and glanced around for an empty parking spot.

A motorist, with a temperament similar to this fellow's, rolled up to my rear bumper and laid a heavy hand on his truck's horn for a deafening three second blast. As I often do with grumpy drivers, I rolled down my window and gave him a big friendly wave in response. :-)

Geez. Some. People.

A Yellow-crowned Night Heron shows he’s definitely not a morning bird with that expression.

My 3 month old daughter, conveying to us her severe displeasure.

This is a Superb Starling at the zoo. They always seem to look grumpy or as if they feel superior to the other birds in the aviary. The latter wouldn't surprise me as due to their striking colours they get quite a lot of attention (and admiration) from the visitors.
