Or so you could think. I love how green herons often look a little tucked in when perched. Even though they have quite long and thin necks they appear to be neck-less in many pictures.

First "voyage" this morning with my highly-engineered floating blind. Now my perspective is that of just another duck on the pond. I did get some funny looks, though. It was about a three-hour tour, a three-hour tour.

Back from the Crane Festival. The weather was terrible. It was cold and rainy Friday and Saturday. We got a break in the rain on Sunday and it warmed up a little. It was so gloomy, most of my shots looks like black and white pics. We did see lots of Cranes and the guide educated us on them as well. Not sure I'll be making another Crane Festival ..;)
With the weather as cold as it's been, I don't blame it! Our high temperature today (30 F) was 23 degrees lower than normal. And tonight is going to be around 14F. A new record low for the date. Please let this winter end.
I saw this flamingo on a day visit to Slimbridge back in October. The bird in the foreground seems to have taken offence with something the bird behind her said.

This weekend I was surrounded by dozens of small frogs in the belgian forest. I took some low DoF shots, including this one of a little guy who does not look happy to be photographed :-).
Junior seemed to speak volumes with this apparent look. Cracked me up and I can't resist sharing it with you. Hope it gives you all a smile!

While waiting for an Osprey to dive this morning (with no luck), this cormorant popped up from underneath the water to give me a look. I love the grumpy look of these water birds. Reminds me of Gonzo the muppet character.

He/She must have been the only animal - human not enjoying the better weather!!

This is a 'face' hidden in a tiny Japanese/Chinese antique bowl. Try as I might I couldn't get it really sharp because the original hand painting has bled into the glaze/pottery, as is usual I believe?
I found a grumpy being the other day. He think he may have been annoyed that I disturbed him as he rested in the little stream.
