Burkett Mills is a still functioning place in Penn Yan, NY. Mostly buckwheat (which I love!) is milled here. Twenty-three years ago at the Buckwheat Festival, the largest pancake in the world, 28 ft. 1 inch, was produced here. There's the griddle.
I had never seen this before today (but have already seen it elsewhere), but the Griddle Cafe in Hollywood serves you your own personal french press of coffee. And it was fantastic!!
I have a new crêpe griddle. So today started my crêpe making adventure. First thing is, I never used a griddle before. Second thing is it was a little bit hard to figure out at which temperature to put the thing. Anyway here is what's left after we got tired of eating, I guess that will make a nice breakfast tomorrow. I only managed to make one very round one, for the rest they had a lot of different shape. I guess I need a little bit more wrist practice. None the less, they were delicious.
I always make the last pancake for myself from the left over batter. This looked more impressive in person.
It is more than HUGE!! We three people could only eat half of this pancake. It is very delicious though.
It was just the test cake, but you still hope for a good flip.

We're pretty sure it was brains. This dish falls into the category of things called "horamon" - basically Japanese offal. We've eaten several great horamon dishes, but the specific part of the animal is often hard to identify. This had the texture of other brain dishes I've eaten. So, so good.
Delicious. Aubergine, courgette, red pepper, onion, artichoke hearts, broccoli and tomato. Coated in an olive oil, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, garlic, pepper, salt, rosemary and oregano mixture.
