Gray Catbirds (Dumetella carolinensis). Thomson Marsh, Kelowna, BC.

It's not often that we get two Graycats in one frame!

Our three gray cats, arranged (from top to bottom) in order of their age: Bonkers (at top) is 18 1/2, Argent (in the middle) is almost 17, and Yuba (at the bottom) is almost 11.

This time Teddy is lying in wait under the bench outside the backdoor, waiting for Mojo to come through the catflap. He's only young and wants to play. Problem is none of mine are interested.

Merry Christmas to one and all especially my Flickr friends. May all of our road trips in 2014 be safe and our roadside finds be bountiful!

Here is the first (of many I'm sure) photo of the new addition to our household. Meet Phoenix who came to us from the Marion/Grant County Humane Society. We had gone to the shelter for their open house at the new facility. We really hadn't planned on taking anything home, but she adopted us the minute we entered the cat room. She is mostly gray with white on her chest, tummy and paws. Her markings are a lot like our lost feral, Phantom so that makes her extra special. So far so good with meeting Pharaoh, just a little posturing, hissing and some growling but no cat fights or fur flying.

The hardest part about taking pictures of cats while they're boarding is that they are often nervous and so don't sustain direct eye contact long enough to get a good picture. Thankfully there are some who are relaxed and confident and will look directly at the lens. Dash is one of those cats. You saw him a couple posts back in the "narrow DoF" picture.

Today Charm is the winner of the "who gets to sleep on the Ottoman" game!

....I still need to vacuum it.

A person, who values the beauty of nature and ambient the world is far richer and happier than those, who not notices this.

Thank you to everyone who stopped to watch, leave a comment, award, an invitation to the group! :)

Thanks to those who gave just smile and admiration and those who remained

dissatisfied! :)

Fyero could smell the yoghurt from a mile away and made her move as Scott settled down at the table to enjoy his snack.

She approached slowly and quietly and without warning, she was in his face, demanding her share.

He eventually caved and gave her a taste... she did not approve of the orange flavoring and promptly turned her attention elsewhere.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Fyero looks quite cranky in this shot but in reality she wasn't.

Whew, this face looks like it's plotting my demise so I'm happy to announce she was actually purring between pets when I snapped this shot.

Don't worry though, she may have been content in the moment but that look indicating her disappointment in all my life choices is probably factual most of the time.

I mean, we do have a dog living in the house after all...

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Scott and Sock went to the dog park when I got home from work this afternoon; so Fyero and I had some dog-free time together, which of course meant mischief from her.

I had this twine out for whatever reason the other day and apparently left it on the tray I used for my Sunday photo, I moved it to the table today and that caught her attention so I cameraed up and shot a couple to see how it would turn out.

Not bad for a quick shot on a sunny and warm afternoon.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

I'm not entirely sure what was keeping Fyero so intently focused when I shot this the other day, but something certainly had her attention, and it was not me.

That's okay though, I think this came out quite nicely and she looks adorable being so fixated on whatever it was.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

My childhood cat. Not a terribly unique name, I know. :) But he was the kitty I grew up with from a young age.

I took this photo 35 years ago this month when I was in high school. Cleaned up and posted this morning for #caturday.

I left my camera at home today knowing that the office would be busy and there wouldn't be much time to venture out.

After taking a nice long weekend I knew there would be a wait list outside my cubicle and I wasn't let down.

I don't know that any actual work was done during the day but hopefully the revolving door of visitors has come to an end and I'll be able to actually push some stuff through tomorrow.

So anyway, no camera with me and hardly any light by the time I got home. That only left a couple options and Sock was playing shy. For once Fyero stepped up and let me snap this quick macro.

Perfect, and besides, how cute is her nose?

Hope everyone has had a good day.

This is Billie's favourite blanket. She loves kneading it and sleeping on/under it (yes, she gets under the blanket sometimes). Odie decided he wanted to give the blanket a try, too. He liked it :-)

See them large on black :-)

I'm a smart lady sometimes; I took today off from my day job to stay home and catch up on a bunch of the stuff I knew I would miss while working all weekend.

Only two or three panicked calls from the office too; so that's a bonus. Usually a day off means I'll be pestered for the majority of it, but today, they must have been distracted.

I did take a look at my work email; it's overloaded. But that's to be expected and that's what Tuesday through Friday is for... right?

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Photo of the day April 17, 2026 - Gus, and Piper relaxing this evening.

Scott and I had to run a few errands this morning after breakfast and apparently that just exhausted him (and Fyero, by proxy) to the point an afternoon nap was mandatory.

I jumped at the opportunity to a capture another "day in the life" style shot, I'm trying to focus my photography more on daily life this year and have been enjoying the results so far.

Hope everyone has had a good Sunday.

Even though I do have a gray cat, this one belongs to my friends. We were out on the patio and their cat was looking out the window at something quite intently.
