From a 10 inch square of O-gami made by MCing scraps together. Adventures in box-pleating.
Pretty simple, 24 grid, but structurally it's basically an 8x8 grid.
After seeing someone's failed attempts to design a box-pleated grasshopper from CP I decided to write an article on how to design a simple grasshopper. I finally had some time to fold it. This is the result.
A beige Grasshopper I found yesterday. I see lots out on the road behind my house. Some are Green, others multi-colored. In assorted sizes as well. The larger ones often fly away as I approach. This one has immature wings.
I caught this grasshopper in a glass jar (the blue line at the bottom).
I placed one of the softboxes to the side, and one behind and just out of shot. I then used pieces of cardboard to block flare from the flashes. When he crawled onto the rim I took this shot.

A nice macro of a grasshopper, shot with my Nikon D750 with a AF Micro Nikkor 60mm/ 2.8 D. The grasshopper was kind enough to pose and allow me to get very close.
