The pattern is Temescal by Arlette Thibodeau. It uses a really unusual stitch pattern to create a really cool texture that plays nicely with gradient yarns!
An adventure in dyeing yarn so that it knits into a gradient!

This was my first attempt at gradient dyeing and I'm pretty happy with it :-)
The yarn is wool/angora/bamboo/nylon blend, dyed with food dye. Colours are heat fixed :-)

Amy somehow finished this puzzle in less than a week. I arranged the pieces from green to blue and did the border, but she put in all the middle pieces.
I am not 100% pleased with the shape of the cat but I love the look of the gradient background. I used 7 colors of ink to achieve this. Then a fine mist of Perfect Pearls in water to blend and shine it up. It is lovely! I can work on the cat for next time. Enjoy, Linda aka Oz

The original from the Zippo Gradient Map series.. I love the colors in this but the series isn't cohesive enough in the others without the gradient shift..
At the beginning of March 2016 the West Somerset Railway held its annual Spring Steam Gala over the weekend of 5th and 6th March and between 10th March and 13th March. The theme of the Steam Gala this year was the Somerset and Dorset Railway as 6th March was the fiftieth anniversary of the closure of the line which ran from Bath to Bournemouth. All the engines that were running during the gala were from types that at some stage ran on the Somerset and Dorset Railway. In addition to the main Gala days there was a photographic day at Minehead station on 8th March and trains running on 9th March were also worked by guest engines. Unfortunately due to other commitments I was not able to get out and about during the gala as much as I would have liked but I managed to capture some of the engines that were running.
This picture shows resident engine 53808 at the head of the heritage goods service from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard on 5th March 2016 as the service passed through the cutting between the two road bridges at Woolston. The gala marked the return to steam of this former Somerset and Dorset locomotive after a heavy overhaul.
The Somerset and Dorset 7F locomotive was specifically designed to cope with the conditions on the line. Only eleven were built, six in 1914 and five in 1925. They were expected to work heavy freight trains over the steep gradients found on the line especially over the Mendips. Two of the class survive in preservation and both were running at the Gala.
