Google Maps now includes Air Traffic routes!!

Ok.. not really. But while playing with Poynt's mapping to Google Maps on my Blackberry, I searched for local pizza places in my area. The resulting mapped image included this airplane flying through the area as Google was collecting map images. What are the odds? Cool!

this is a good route to follow, but you may want to vary the return trip to avoid some gnarly up hills.

I already knew about this bit of silliness from Google Maps.

Via BoingBoing, a GoogleMaps plot of Hurricane Rita, "(Original Map Code by Ken Robinson. Enhancements, Dynamic Forecast Plots, other Modifications by Mike Cornelius Extra Graphics Tom Pratchios, Some ideas from compooter.org, Maps from Google Maps)."

Here's how it is really interesting: first, shift to the satellite view, and then zoom in on the area of the map where Rita shifted from a Category 4 to a Category 5 and back again. You can see that the shift corresponds to the level of the sea floor.

I guess you could say that I live my life in the grey area.
