Followed this cyclist in street view and saw he did a good deed helping another cyclist change a flat, as proper etiquette dictates. The act was captured by the Google Maps car.

Is this how certain parts of the world see us Britons and Americans? I grabbed this from a screenshot of Google's maps which are now covering the UK. It just amused me...zooming out to an atlas-style-view, and call you can see are Britain, Canada and the USA...
In August of 2001, Patti and I did a fly-in backback trip to the Wrangell-St. Elias mountains of Alaska. Google Maps gave me the opportunity to dig out all the maps again. Joy!

This is the map itself. I have taken the feed from my blog about friedsland and piped it through ws.geonames.org/rssToGeoRSS. With the total url which you copy and paste into the search bar of googlemaps.com you get the results.
What happens here is.
- I have posts which mention various locations in Friesland
- The GeoRSS parses the names out of the feed, Googlemaps then finds the locations. It is very cool and it has a 60-70% success rate. One entry ends up on New York, but I mentioned the New York Times on that Post. Another entry ends up in South Africa, I have not figured that one out yet
A series of screenshots with google maps, which you can download for free. The photographs show unusual places in such countries as Russia, Australia, Iceland, Greenland, Myanmar (Burma) and Antarctica. Our planet is beautiful and can inspire us again and again.
