In August of 2001, Patti and I did a fly-in backback trip to the Wrangell-St. Elias mountains of Alaska. Google Maps gave me the opportunity to dig out all the maps again. Joy!

This is the map itself. I have taken the feed from my blog about friedsland and piped it through ws.geonames.org/rssToGeoRSS. With the total url which you copy and paste into the search bar of googlemaps.com you get the results.
What happens here is.
- I have posts which mention various locations in Friesland
- The GeoRSS parses the names out of the feed, Googlemaps then finds the locations. It is very cool and it has a 60-70% success rate. One entry ends up on New York, but I mentioned the New York Times on that Post. Another entry ends up in South Africa, I have not figured that one out yet
We spent some time looking up the houses we grew up in on Google Maps. Patrick lived in a forest full of ghosts. COOL.

Although Google Maps has not added in street information for this area yet, using other maps, my memory, and a few landmarks, I found my old house (apartment, rather), in Tokyo. I was seven when my family moved back to the States, so the memory part is a little shaky.
A rather interesting house in Leominster, Hereforshire .. does anyone have an up to date shot of it?

I was looking up the address for an old colleague who works at "Dreamfish" and the address is 3150 18th Street. So I look it up on Google Street View and this is the image that appears. I'm guessing this isn't his office! And look at all the other businesses on that list that are supposed to be stuck in there :)
