After the funeral at the reception everyone got a balloon and wrote a letter to Kaylee and attached it to it. We all released them in the air. Mine of course got stuck in a tree near by, but I think she'll get my message <3 R.I.P. Sweet angel, we'll meet again. Sleep well.
"Sleep well my friend, there will be another moment we'll meet again, just let it go. Sleep well goodnight, you're something to remember, I wish that you were here by my side" ~Mayday Parade
Today was a very sad day, Pip and I had to say goodbye to little Henry. He’s with us for only a short while now, but he has become (after an initial chocolate health scare) a very dear friend.
So when Pip and I had to pack our bags for our border crossing book signing tour we were very sad to leave him behind. But someone had to take make sure that my mommie stays protected from evil things and I think Henry is up to the job, he’ll probably even help her out in her bookstore.
Saying goodbye to my lovely mommie was even worse, but we’ll be back as soon as we can!
Because we love our mommie very much indeed!
HUG.

My sister in law & brother in law had to say goodbye to their amazing dog Marshall yesterday.
He was a gentle giant and will be missed by everyone who knew him

I arrived four hours ago at my new apartment (called "Goodbye Lenin" by the property management company) and my work spot already looks like this. It's amazing how quickly that this doesn't really qualify as "uncluttered".
Not my most creative shot, but I just wanted to post this.
My dog Spice died last night TT__TT
Can't say I wasn't expecting it though. She turned 11 this February, which makes her pretty old for a dog.
It just makes me so sad because I wasn't able to say goodbye properly. Usually when I leave for work in the morning, she would be sleeping next to my car, and I'd have to move her so she wouldn't get run over. Yesterday I found it weird that she wasn't in her usual space, but I didn't have time to look for her because I was running late. I figured I'd see her when I get back. When I got home that evening, my mom told me that she was gone...
I've already accepted it. I knew she was going to leave us sooner or later. I feel like she knew it too. These past few days, she's been extra sweet to all of us. She has a hard time walking because of arthritis, so usually when she sees us, she just stares at us until we pet her. But the past week, she's always made the effort of getting up whenever she sees us just so we can give her a hug TT_TT
I'll miss her ...

Time to say goodbye to a beautiful winter, time to say hello to spring .... although it snowed again in Zurich today.
Goodbyes are so hard. They had been together for so long and now they would be apart for months. They would keep in touch but it wouldn't be the same as being together as one. They held each other one last time.
The train was ready to depart. They said goodbye with a heavy feeling in their hearts.

Goodbye to pasts that haunt, old strings that shroud, and goodbye to all that was untrue.
It is time to bury all things that were ever dark in 2008 and begin anew. :)
... hello to 2009, to new memories to be made, and hello to an entire new year of joy!
May this year bring much more happiness than ever before.
p.s. thank you for all the good wishes in email, messages and comments.
The best to you all. :)

This was one of a couple of shots that I took because I was waiting for the right moment for the two to say goodbye. It also happened so fast, that I almost missed it, so I pressed the shutter button multiple times, to ensure that I get a keeper.
The autumnal equinox occurs tomorrow morning at 5:04AM which is 9:04 GMT to astronomically end summer. Thought I would wave goodbye on this last day of summer with a scene I photographed back in July.
A young couple gets unexpectedly splashed by waves while watching the sunset from the Lake Ontario shoreline near Oswego, New York. Could this have the makings of a Nicholas Sparks novel about summer love?
The above photo was taken last year.

On Saturday 11th July, Plantsbrook School opened its doors to the public for an event celebrating the school building's rich past and its exciting future, where the school building will be demolished with an all-new school being gradually built in its place. Being a former pupil as well as a photographer/journalist sent to cover the event, I set about diligently capturing as much of the school on camera as possible. It's astounding to think that by 2017, everything in these photographs will be gone...

My heart sank this afternoon as I learned a very sad news. Alice, a sweet wonderful dog of my wonderful flickr friend Phoebe had lost her battle against cancer. Please go and visit her page and send her your thoughts and prayers...goodbye my friend
We said goodbye to Dad today. Here he is summer 2008, back when he was still in better health. He was suffering from early stage congestive heart failure and diabetes.
Back in March 2021 he, my mother and aunt, all contracted Covid19. They all survived, barely. My father took it the hardest and his slow decline picked up speed.
He suffered from long term Covid effects and died peacefully in his sleep at the beginning of November.
I had forgotten about these photos until I found them again when I was searching for photos for his memorial service.
I don't remember what kind of film this was but I'm glad I took this shot many years ago.
Why do we take photos? Sentimentality I suppose, to keep a record of an interaction. Good or bad.
Just get out there and take photos of your loved ones, you'll never know when it will be the last time. Love is always a renewable resource but time is not.
Earlier on yesterday, while waiting to start my work shift, I had the opportunity to say goodbye to my girlfriends at the family dollar in my work plaza that's closing its doors for good by the end of business tomorrow. When I started at my job & arrived my customary hour early (when using public transit I don't play around when it comes to getting places on time and have always went to work an hour early) the Family Dollar was where I went to kill some time and ended up bonding with them quite a bit.
Even though I spent most of the time there just walking around and/or maybe buying junk food to take home I felt a real closeness to some of the staff, a lot of whom have been there through my own working period so seeing that their particular location was closing & watching slowly as all the stock has dwindled away was hard for me. The two women I cared about the most seem like they'll be fine at least - one is moving across the state to transfer, the other is optimistic about other employment - but it just won't be the same now that I have no place 'to go' while waiting to work.
If there is a silver lining to be found is that I grabbed a few things for ultra cheap, the best of these a pretty decent mp3 player for $3. I'll use this mp3 player until it's done and will think of them/my bond with them everytime I do so but given the option I'd gladly trade it to keep them around instead.
