Going Dark: The Contemporary Figure at the Edge of Visibility - more than 100 works of art by 8 artists which feature partially obscured or hidden figures.

We sent off our daughter at Landquart station, with train to Zürich Airport. Landquart is a small town in the Swiss Alps. You change at this station to go to Davos, famous for skiing and World Economic Forum.

I processed a balanced and a photographic HDR photo from two RAW exposures, blended them, carefully adjusted the curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Shadow and light are both part of the world. The best thing you can do for yourself is to get going.

As summer draws to a close, the skies will be quieter too.

Shortly before sunset. The little cloud almost appears to be tunneling into that big, gray mass.

Quite a different kind of Faerie King :D

More fun with retro flexi dresses and BOM, along with a new anim from Poseidon.

Historic Village of Shirakawa-gō ( a UNESCO World Heritage Site)

Shirakawa-go (Shirakawa Village) is a Japanese mountain settlement in what was once considered a wild and unexplored region. Because of the area’s natural environment, with high mountains and heavy snowfall, interaction with neighboring regions was limited. However, this also created the conditions for the development of unique cultural practices and lifestyles. Now registered as a World Cultural Heritage site.

A couple of avant-garde characters on their way who-knows-where. I guess one of the advantages of masks for street photography is that everyone becomes effectively anonymous, which at least solves something of the consent issue. Although I wonder if the person looking up was annoyed, startled, or just curious.

Blassington, Ireland

These grey headed flying foxes are relatively new to Adelaide (10 years) and are hanging around increasing in numbers, much to the annoyance of local fruit growers.

Been away for some time. We all need rest from one thing or another now and then.

Heading off to Montana to meet one of my dearest friends and fellow Flickrite to help me get my photo groove going again. I'll be back in gear on Flickr soon.

Hope you are all healthy and happy.

a 4x4 buck going directly away into some good brush.

The world is changing and the human race can't just continue on using up the world resources, so it was an elevated moment of joy for me to find a green car parked near our local shops today was I was passing.

I wanted to congratulate the owner on doing his bit to reduce his carbon footprint, but he was nowhere to be found.

Going Green Challenge

7DOS Green Theme

to a place I have never been before.

Walking today on the common,

I heard a stranger say

To a friend who was standing near him,

'Do you know I am going away? '

I had never seen their faces,

May never see them again;

Yet the words the stranger uttered,

Stirred me with nameless pain.

For I knew some heart would miss him,

Would ache at his going away!

And the earth would seem all cheerless

For many and many a day.

No matter how light my spirits,

No matter how glad my heart,

If I hear those two words spoken,

The teardrops always start.

They are so sad and solemn,

So full of a lonely sound;

Like dead leaves rustling downward,

And dropping upon the ground,

Oh, I pity the naked branches,

When the skies are dull and gray,

And the last leaf whispers softly,

'Good-bye, I am going away.'

In the dreary, dripping autumn,

The wings of the flying birds,

As they soar away to the south land,

Seem always to say those words.

Wherever they may be spoken,

They fall with a sob and a sigh;

And heartaches follow the sentence,

'I am going away, Good-bye.'

On my way back home the sun was starting to go down and again the light was simply beautiful!

One-hour build, seventh entry for Iron Builder against Jonas.

Very decently sized, by the way.

EDIT: And as it was pointed out, Sean and Steph posted almost identical build on their April Fools IB three years ago. I had no idea of this - but now I feel like I should have checked their builds in advance. But believe me, there's no time for thinking on this contest.
